Tommorrow I leave for Germany, the MB museum, and around the Medditeranean

Just finished packing for my big trip. My parent's could not have thought of a better college graduation gift.

Tommorrow I make way to Stuttgart, spend a day trying to get over the Jet Lag. We leave around 1:00 p.m CST, and arrive in Stuttgart at about Midnight CST, or 7:00 AM locally in Germany! At some point I'll take in the Mercedes and Porsche museums before heading to Nice France to catch my boat...



The Wind Surf will take me around the Mediteranean to many Italian ports, including Portofino, Portoferrario, Monte Carlo, and others, with its final stop in Rome where I'll spend a few days. Then comes the 11 hour flight home.

I plan on taking plenty of photos, most likely car heavy, and add them to this thread.

Have a safe trip. The MB museum is north of Stuttgart in Untertuerkheim. If you can get there on a weekday, it's better and free.

Also, near the MB HQ which is south of Stuttgart in Moehringen, is the Hotel Fontana, with its casino and many beautiful German girls ...

Sinsheim (sp) is a very good collection or museum of cars, airplanes, tanks, motorcycles etc. It is near Heidelburg. I don't know if it is near your travel path or not. The time I was there, I think I counted three MB gullwings. I'd say its more of a collection. A lot of the cars were on loan from their owners. Some of the cars were not in museum quality condition.
I am partial to Muniuch and Heidelburg is nice too.

Very cool trip. There's a road that parallels the coastline all the way around the Mediterranean. It's on my bucket list.

Agreed. Also, try to get to bed early and wake up early, and don't drink booze on the flight. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Don't forget to look at the approved liquid quantities list on the TSA website, and follow their directions (everything in a quart (?) ziploc bag, is it?) to a "t." I take a water bottle with me and fill it up at a fountain after I pass security.

Have fun, man. I am jealous! Our annual pilgrimage to Garmisch is on hold until our first child (due in September!) is old enough to travel without making a fuss. I refuse to be "that parent" on a 8+ hour flight.

Oh, be sure to stop at Benz dealerships and ask if you can buy a license plate frame. Every one I have ever asked at has given me one free. Enjoy the trip!

LUCKY!! I was so close to Germany in 2007 I could taste it, but I didnt get to go. Had to stay in stupid France!
