Man On Fire with Denzel Washington is the ultimate revenge movie. No Country For Old Men, while pretty good, goes pale if you've read the book. It isn't possible to translate Cormac McCarthy's gorgeous prose into video.

no, but they did the best you can do in a movie, in my opinion. i read the book first, and noticed the script had whole passages lifted from the book. the coen brothers can make a good movie, when they quit trying to be so cute. and roger deakins makes some pretty pictures.

"man on fire" (either version) is - to me - more of a redemption movie. there's some allusions to "christlike" sacrifice ( think about the bleeding wound in the main character's side, highlighted in the swimming sequences) and basically he is (re)born, experiences love - of the "philios" type - and then sacrifices himself for the loved one. scott glenn is amazing in the original; underappreciated actor.

Isn't that the way you insult an Italian? Supposedly, that "sign" indicates that the viewer/insultee is suppose to be the recipient of a "glory hole party" experience...to put it lightly...

I'm going to have to take your word for it, Mark.

I watched this movie twice, knowing some West Virginians made me love Pitts accent all the more. I rolled when he was speaking I talian. the sense of humor of Pitts charactor and the pure horse sense was great.

the movie explained the three fingers mistake in the dialog, similar to an American cutting and eating with the right hand mistake from a 50's spy movie
