FS: Home in my Omaha neighborhood that Jack Nicholson rented:
Jack Nicholson stayed at this home for 3 months or so during the filming of his 2002 movie, "About Schmidt" now for sale in my former Omaha neighborhood. It is a Frank Lloyd Wright style design. Scuttlebut had it that it's rental price was $10K a month to the movie company. Skid's Omaha home that I sold in 2005, was precisely 3 blocks from here. A building products architectural rep. built the home originally, and moved 2 blocks away to much nicer digs 30 years ago. The generally going median price is only about $250K for the neighborhood. Not exactly my cup of tea, but architecturally interesting nonetheless. The sectored school district of zip code 68124/114 "District 66," was/is outstanding, which is a big draw.
Rockbrook Subdivision: 2324 S 102 Street Omaha, NE 68124 Price: $474,900 Bedrooms: 6 Baths: 3 Aprx Total Fin Sq Ft: 4105 |

Nice setting, though FLW designs had small austere kitchens and he didn't believe in garages. But some compromises are needed to be marketable today.

I think you should buy it, so you can tell us all about it over the winter when your motor-coach is in the garage for winter hibernation
The pink bathroom is the same color as the part of your signature advertising your Mercedes.....perfect match.

The price seems unrealistic unless its a true FLW home, which it doesn't seem to be.
My Uncle, an ER doc going through a divorce, is renting a similar home in the suburbs of Chicago. Its been on the market for years, and while it gets plenty of showings, nobody bites. It started about double the average home price in the area and has had at least one dramatic price drop as far as I know. It seems the guys usually fall in love with the place, but the wives think its too cold, harsh, and impractical. I snapped a few photos during my brief visit there not long ago.

I don't know if I would be comfortable living in a place where Jack lived.
Scary huh?

Perhaps. But a closer look at the neighborhood reflects that it has supported sales of homes nearing $1,000,000.00 in the past 10 years.
Recent sales of three to four hundred thousand dollar homes are not unusual sales for the neighborhood. "Where" a home is for sale, is usually more important, than "what" a home is. If "uncles" home he's renting/living in hasn't sold - it is because of it's price. It is simply overpriced for what it is. Last edited by Skid Row Joe; 07-25-2010 at 06:46 PM. |

Correct.
The RE agent's listing sheet was very implicit in the wording. The home has undergone extensive remodeling inside/outside, since it was built in 1962. Whether or not it is a Frank Lloyd Wright designed home is unknown. |

Not half as scary as being stuck in Omaha.

They should rent it to that "Mad Men" show. Right time frame I believe.
