JetBlue flight attendant arrested

flight attendants are there to make sure everyone has a SAFE flight. that means when the seat belt sign is ON, your sealt belt remains fastened per FAA regs. this particular passenger felt she was above the law and could do as she pleased. When confronted about this, she went off on the flight attendant.

By asking her to remain seated until the seat belt sign was off, HE was doing his job, she was acting like a spoiled brat. However, he should not have allowed his emotions to take over (easy to do), and should have merely reported the incident to the head flight attendant or the Captain.

does anyone remember the A&E TV show "Airline"?
that show gave me a thousand reason to stay off commercial passenger planes. today's traveling public is made up of hostile, spoiled brat ME ME ME type people looking to act out. being locked up in a closed space with a hundred wackos is NOT my idea of a good time.....

I strongly sympathize with him.

This country has been literally run over by inconsiderate DB's whose only priority is themselves.

He finally had his limit.

One of these days, you might read about me as well.

Very odd. I read a story in the paper last week about how Jetblue prefers to hire retired NYPD and FDNY as their flight attendants. Those people know how to deal with the public and stay cool under pressure. Sounds way out of character.

28 years of dealing with John Q public in tight quarters will make anyone crazy!!

When I last flew American I came to the realization That commercial airlines
have become Greyhound buses with wings .

Though he should have done what he did in a more professional manner, with out the curse words. That probably would have got him an ovation from the rest of the pax.

When you run your own charter company, you have certain “privileges” not available to these commercial operators.
I’ve been known to stop the aircraft out on the taxiway and ask these AHs if they’d like to get out there and walk the rest of the way to the terminal.

In the air, they are much easier to deal with. I have total control of the cabin altitude and how much oxygen they get to breathe. Funny how a lack there of calms the human mind. Often, right to sleep.

Eh, I always buckle up when they tell me to, but loosen the darn thing as much as I can.

If there's an accident, a seat belt on a plane isn't going to help me at all.

Just let the sucker go. If he gets hurt then it is his own fault. People for some reason love enforcing their wills on others when it comes to rules handed from up high.

While we're on it, why still have the stupid phone ban? I can't get a signal up there anyway.

If cannabis ever gets legalized, airlines should pay to have edibles on flights. Best way to keep everyone happy and comfortable for those 12 hour nightmares :p

EXACTLY, the wrong person was arrested, she's obviously the one that started the trouble. as I said, another selling point for staying off of commercial aircraft. who wants to be exposed to these obviously out of control wackos?

most likely, this 20+ year career flight attendant had dealt with many many AH's in his past and this particular passenger became the straw the broke the camel's back.

I consistently praise flight attendants and other Jet Blue employees that enforce the rules. I also frequently stop others behind me from racing to get in front after the plane lands. The mark of a higher civilization is the ability to make and enforce rules.
On a related note last time I flew out of JFK a couple folks lifted the security line "rope" and it started a new line that cut straight to the front- all the while the people in the "real" line did not notice until perhaps 80 people were in line. It was not pretty. Then a guy HS guy comes around asking folks if they are boarding in X minutes then they can skip the line. This country now rewards folks for personal failure. How stupid. We need to come up with a system that allows for real, once in a awhile screwups but does not allow people to game the system, arrive late and then jump the line. Pretty much the same in politics- rewarding folks for failing to think ahead.

If for some reason the plane becomes a “Yard Dart”... you are correct.

If however, the plane encounters turbulence, has to perform an evasive maneuver, has a hard landing or has to stop quickly while on the ground... you are waaaay wrong.

Something to keep in mind:
If you were to stand in the isle of a loaded 757 while the pilot slams on the brakes to avoid hitting a luggage train. You will easily fly past 5 rows of seats before you can catch yourself. And you’ll probably find yourself on the floor when you do.
If you were sitting in your seat during such an event. You will more than likely face plant (or body slam) the back of the seat in front of you in a not so comfortable manner.
The belts and the signs are there for a very good reason.
