Is auto arrange disabled? It should be unchecked if you want your desktop icons to stay where you place them. Just right click desktop, click view, then uncheck auto-arrange.

Exactly. And most stuff works fine on 64-bit.

420 - I'm running Windows 7/64. I use Firefox and other browsers. What exactly is the issue? Your desktop icons aren't staying in place?
Mine never move unless I change the resolution, which isn't something you really ever need to do with an LCD... If you arrange yours and then they change again when you log off, I would guess there is an issue saving your user profile. When you log off, Windows should save your settings, including your desktop. If it is not, you can try creating a new profile and see if that works. Windows 7/64 has been working very well for me (upgraded from Vista 32).

Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Add or Remove User Accounts. Just try creating/adding a new one. Call it whatever you want and set it up as admin. Then log off, log into the new account and resize/move your icons around. Log off again, log back on and see if everything stays put. It should.
