They have tops??!
The top on my friend's TR6 has not been up except on 2 occasions in 4 years.
1) The day he bought it--the top was up.
2) Once he got caught in a T-storm. Probably took longer to erect than the duration of the storm.

Maybe it shows, that, apart from politics, we are fairly reasonable, and eerily similar guys. And of course, good looking.

On the internet, you can anything you want to be.

I'd like to see an evaluation of the accuracy of self-provided data on on-line dating services. The one guy I know who is on-line is so far off in how he views himself that he is unrecognizable. He describes himself as the "wise one to whom all his friends come for advice".

So, in that vein, I repeat, " I am a stud".

Peter Egan is still a great writer.

I am thrashing to get the FF back together for an event sunday. I have had some work the last couple of weeks that demanded my time so missed the first points event.

I took about 40# out of the car this winter including a new aluminum head. I am also getting it painted in the (perhaps) original yellow. I am using the brightest corvette yellow available. I will retain the orange wheels and other highlights to be added later.

I got the new head buttoned down tonight and will continue assembling and repairing in hopes of competing sunday. I have an energetic young mechanic lined up to help me on saturday so perhaps we will get it together!

Wish me luck!

I have been replacing all mounting bolts with studs where screwing into the aluminum head. Yesterday I spent several hours installing them for the exhaust header and about 930 last night discovered that the frame rail will not permit the mounting of the header with studs.

I did a really bang up job installing them with red loc tite and the torque wrench so extracting them today will be challenging. My favorite machinist has a stud extractor which I wlll ask to borrow. I imagine some heat will be needed too.

Drat!

This will cost me nearly a day.

The worst of it is that mounting the header was one of the first things I set out to check and somehow got so caught up in the whole stud installing process that I skipped it. A huge brain fart.

it's probably of little consolation, Tom. But know you have company in the brain fart engine installation department.

do you have to remove all of them ??

can the studs be shortened on some ??

i would sure like to have studs rather than bolts in an aluminum head

Yeah, me too. I will try fitting it in as I remove studs hoping I can keep some as studs. I cut the two most critical off last night but it still would not go.
