Thats my test also - if I can make it move or shift at all, then chances are good that someone/something else can.

I've always been good about holding a car up with 2 things, but not double-chocking- this will change.

I have 3 little ones now that need a Father - that is all the reason I need.

Never use a cheap no-name communist Chinese made spring compressor.

If it lets go, (and there is a decent chance it will,) it'll turn into a missile and kill you if you are in the way of it.

If you HAVE to go do things like using a spring compressor for a car, at least buy a safe new one, like a Klann.

Depends on what you believe..or want to believe.
For instance... A docter may tell me "you have only 4 months to live Mr. Chilcutt'...I wont believe him. Why?, becuase he is only a mortal..giving me his opinion.
I believe that each and every person are destined according to their very own 'Book of life'. Each book of life is tailored to that individual.
Objectively speaking, this may be a coping mechanism used on my part. Ie: something doesnt go 'my way'..So, instead of dwelling on this..I accept it...move on with my life.
Dont know if this answers your question?

hogweed has a thread up at the moment about a fallen tree. The trunk of that tree would be perfect for making a safety few blocks to sit your car on. Far safer than those cheap jack stands. 5 minutes work with a chain saw.

I've probably told this story before but one time I was working on a lady's car on ramps. I was under the side of the car, behind the front wheel that was on the ramp.

I had set the parking brake as well as oriented the car facing down hill so that it would have less of a tendency to roll back. As bad luck would have it, the lady comes out and leans under the car to see how I'm doing.

Just the slight pressure of her hand on the front bumper caused the car to roll back and down the ramps towards me. I sucked in trying to make myself as skinny as possible (for whatever good it would do) and pulled my arms back to my sides.

At the time, I had a heavy duty flashlight in my hand and when I pulled my arms back, the nose of the flashlight caught the suspension of the moving car and simultaneously, the tail wedged into the ground.

This formed a lever of sorts that both raised the car and slowed it to a stop before it hit me. Lukily, the length of the flashlight was greater, by a small margin, than my body's thickness from front to back.

That's probably the closest I've ever come to being hurt very badly...

You are a lucky person. I'm betting that if a person tried to stop a rolling car using that trick, 9 times out of 10 it wouldn't work.
