Remember to chock your wheels

Guy a few blocks from me was killed yesterday when his SUV rolled off the ramps as he was underneath working on it. Sounded like he may have been working on his driveshaft and relying on Park to hold the vehicle in place on the ramps. No driveshaft, no Park. Remember redundancy.

I have a healthy fear of working under a car. Stories like this reinforce the importance of thinking through every move and making sure you're protected.

My sympathies go out to his family.

Sometimes people get in a hurry

And forget basics...or throw caution to the wind.
However, in the moment that man was born, it was written as to when/how he would die. Nothing one can do to escape fate.

no question we are all going to die, but let's face the facts: stupid actions will certainly accelerate death.

I didn't see that coming. The age old question; Is Islam fatalism?

More like "Darwinism" than anything else. Strapping an explosive device to your body does tend to accelerate that "Darwinism" curve upwards a bit sooner than normal.

As for the parking ramp/driveshaft guy?
That's probably more "Redneckism" with a bit "Alcoholism" thrown in as the accelerant.

(Sorry for the "gallows humor" this morning...a friend passed away this morning from Parkinson's disease. He didn't get much more than a year to enjoy his retirement when he was diagnosed with it.)

Possibly, but it happened in an upscale neighborhood.

I thought "Park" has to do with the trans locking up the rear end? If you remove the Driveshaft, the rear end spins freely. Or at least mine does.

If it is written how you will die, what is the point then? If I am fated to die at 63 yrs, 2 months, 4 days and at 1405 hrs, couldn't I do all kinds of things then? So what if I drink like a fish and smoke like a chimney? Till the date comes, I cannot die. So what if I did this brilliant move? I wouldn't die till my hour of death.

That's what I meant. It wasn't explicitly stated but since the guy was working on his differential it seems possible, if not likely, that he pulled the driveshaft and when he did that, the truck rolled down the ramp.

Or linger on and suffer. If I got diagnosed with it, I know that at the first sign of problems, I would terminate. It only gets worse so why drag it out?

Howard is 95 and lives in a senior citizen home. Every night after dinner, Howard goes to a secluded garden behind the center to sit and ponder his accomplishments and long life.

One evening, Annabel, age 87, wandered into the garden. They begin to chat, and before they know it, several hours have passed. After a short lull in their conversation, Howard turns to Annabel and asks, “Do you know what I miss most of all?”

She asks “What?”

He replies “SEX!!!”

Annabel exclaims, “Why you old fart, you couldn’t get it up if I held a gun to your head!”

“I know”, Howard says, “but it would be nice if a woman just held it for a while.”

“Well, I can oblige”, says Annabel, who gently unzips his trousers and removes his manhood and proceeds to hold it.

They agree to meet secretly each night in the garden where they would sit and talk and Annabel would hold Howard’s manhood.

Then, one night, Howard didn’t show up at their usual meeting place. Alarmed, Annabel decided to find Howard and make sure that he was O.K. She walked around the home until she found him sitting by the pool with Sarah, who was holding Howard’s manhood!

Furious, Annabel yelled, “You two-timing creep! What does she have that I don’t have?”

Howard smiled and replied “Parkinson’s!”
