Its Over.

After four years, its time to end this one-way relationship.

I have decided to drop my American Express card (gotcha!). I have kept all the cash-back returns in one place, with a small APY and, after adding all the fees up and comparing, it just doesn't make sense.

What are some favorite rewards programs out there that don't have membership fees?

I don't mind high rates, I pay everything on time and carry zero balance.

I am in Wells Fargo, no fees but the rewards come pretty slowly. It is somewhere around a 200:1 ratio, after $20,000 on the card you get $100 rewards. Works out very well for me since it is free and I literally put everything on the card.

I prefer the Amex card especially when I have purchases from merchants I don't know of. Why? Because if there is a problem, they will freeze the charge.

I had a problem with a starter and wanted to have it exchanged. Store gave me hell. Went home and talked to Amex.

Agent: We will file a dispute AFTER you return the item
Me: Store won't take it back.
Agent: We don't care. Put it on his table and if you have someone else see it, it would be better but just put it on his table.
Me: And if he doesn't accept it?
Agent: That's our problem.

They are EXCELLENT with investigating disputes. I had a charge I didn't recognize with Discover and they jerked me around. I charged an airline ticket for my Dad and forgot about it but they couldn't get me any information about the charge that occurred. I had to finally figure it out. With Amex, they have ALWAYS been prompt and good whenever I question an item. Also, with returns, there is way less hassle.

Once or twice, the extended warranty has been useful for those items whose warranty expires 3 days before it breaks.

Also, a time or two, my items I bought got lost or stolen and they replaced it.

I have the Costco Amex. Its a cash back card. 1% on all purchases. 3% on gas. 3% on dining and 2% on travel. Does not matter if you shop at cost co or not. Also they double the warranty on products upto an additional year free ofbcharge. no anual fee as long as i keep my cost co membership.

Switch to an Amex with no annual fee's. I wouldn't get a CC with a fee, the interest rates they charge are more then enough.

What interest rate does Amex have if you get the charge card? They have a CC there but that is that.

Not sure.

http://www201.americanexpress.com/business-credit-cards/business-card-details/simplycash-business-credit-card/29789?btct=Amex_LP_OPEN_OPEN_Gold_002:Random&ct11=Amex_LP_OPEN_OPEN_Gold_002

This is the one I'm going to apply for once my business is old enough. Amex said they want 1 year's worth of income statements.

I have a Southwest Airline card from Visa. We put everything on it and usually get at least one and sometimes two tickets a year.
