FLAC vs MP3 Audible Difference?
Any of you audiophile types out there?
Ive just been playing around with some Ohio Players FLAC and mp3 files and I'm not hearing a huge difference in the overall sound quality. FLACs are supposed to be lossless high quality stuff. I'm running the sound down the SPDIF out of my computer to surround sound processor (stereo mode) out to my Kenwood Supreme 600 amp, which is connected to some AVID 103 speakers

Huge difference depending on what your source is. If the ohio players album you have was ripped from a subpar turntable or ripped into MP3 then upcoded to FLAC then you won't notice much. IMO there isn't too much difference between a good MP3 recording and FLAC for older stuff since the analog recording media only captured so much. However for a lot of new music artists are going FLAC and also producing in 5.1, 7.1, etc so the quality can really be breathtaking for FLAC in comparison to say a 256kbps mp3.
