I believe that's a bit misleading in regards to China. They have been understating defense spending for years. The PLA is involved in just about every business in China, so its quite easy for them to understate it.

Realistically I think China is probably at 1/2 to 1/3 of what we spend.

If you want to be a big player you have to pay.

Probably right and I also suspect that the U.S number might even be low.... (Money spent on black projects probably doesn't show up and as noted here interest on past expenditures aren't listed either) I also wonder how the money spent by certain defense contractors is calculated.

That was WW1 debt, one of the key points that Hitler used to rise to power.

I believe most country's defense budgets are understated, ours is probably a bit as well. But China makes it official policy, the PLA has their hands in everything they are loaded. NFW do they spend $100b a year not with all the programs they have going on. They want a blue water Navy, not on 100B a year.

Sorry, but I could not care less about anything with Christian or Jewish significance, and neither should the US government. The US should not be in the business of protecting other peoples superstitious symbols.

Personally I couldn't care less wether or not Jerusalem winds up under the mullahs again for a while irrespective of the apoplexy that would strike a bunch of superstitious in the US. However. The idea that the arab world would finally manage to win a war against Israel, is frankly, unlikely.
