is it possible to remove the dash on that car and leave the vin portion of metal in place? if not, then you have to do the right thing and keep the correct vin plate in it's location.
if you are worried about it, go to any body shop and ask what they do with replacement dashes that come without any vin... I bet they drill and pop the right vin plate onto it.
x2.

How do you insure the car?

Right, just move the plate to the new dash and forget about it.

Oh, I'll be calling no legal body and discussing this lol.

You guys are right. I should move it. Even if someone said hey they aren't original rivets, the one under the hood, on every panel, and on the title will match it and prove its legitimacy.
