Yes there is a police report and it clearly states geezer was at fault. The police gave him a ticket.

The trouble is his coverage is Progressive also, so there is no difference between dealing with his insurance and dealing with mine.

You can waste time/money fighting City Hall, or come to the cold realization that you are boned.

...assuming you have lots of free time to chase a small amount of money that you will never actually collect.

Time is money, let Progressive process it through their claims department. Follow up with a phone call now and then and eventually you'll get your $1000. less stress.

Before the cops arrived, the guy who hit her hopped out of his car and went over to some bystanders who had witnessed the accident. He offered each bystander $20 to tell the cops a lie concerning how the accident happened. Since the wreck occurred in a seedy part of town, the bystanders took him up on the offer. When the cops arrived they listened to the lies and then wrote the VICTIM a ticket. Unfortunately, she accepted it and when I met her she was paying the price (literally).

She was a senior citizen and obviously the guy who hit her saw an opportunity to take advantage of her.....
How does a motorist that was rear ended get ticketed?

Her story is not believable, is what I'm saying. Regardless what the bystanders claim.

It's been quite a few years since I heard the story so my memory may not be 100%. Plus, as you say she could be telling a tale. You never know nowadays......but I do remember she was a little old lady with a very wrecked car and appeared believable. I may have the rear end collision part incorrect though......

Well I figured the probable attorney. I always knew they were not always out chasing ambulances. In fact to further verify that a few lurk here. The investigator I did not notice.

As for the thread starter.I try not to get frustraited with things as it can always be worse arises in the mind. Plus the wife becomes a little surly if I fixate on an issue. So I am not quite sure what makes me dump the frustation. God you can fixate on something though with little effort otherwise.

Unless a court has ordered payment, there is no incentive for an insurance company to pay any valid claim quickly.

Time is money? Indeed it is!

Insurance companies make most of their profits investing premiums in the various investment markets. The time element that an insurance company has possession of the premium money before paying it out in claims is called 'float.' Berkshire-Hathaway, Inc, with their dozens upon dozens of insurance companies, for instance, has about $52 billion dollars +/- of 'float' money currently on hand. This 'float' money is interest free for the insurance company to use. Once you realize insurance is a racket, it all starts to make sense to the policyholder.

Call and ask them if you "need" to get an attorney involved. That normally light a fire.

The next thing to do is start shopping for new insurance

When there is a coillision between two vehiicles both insured by the sane company, that is called in Industry jargon, A CROSS INSURED LOSS.

The collision deductible on both cars is waived. FOR BOTH parties.

The reason is simple enough. An insurance company cannot subrogate
against itself.

You are in luck since this happened to you in this case.

The insurance conpany claims adjusters have to do that.

How do I know they do?

Because I used to be one of "they".

Exactly what I've been saying, it's a giant racket designed to take from the poor (the policy holders) and give to the rich (the insurance company).

If the deductible is waived, why is Progressive fighting this one?

It doesn't sound like anyone is fighting, it sounds like the OP is complaining that he won't get the deductible portion of the payment until they process the other drivers claim, and the other driver hasn't submitted his info yet. If he wants to make enough noise over $1000, he might get paid a little sooner; or not.
