News reports here in Texas say he was taken to the county jail.

Delay violated Texas state law, his jury was not all liberal Democrats, if anything it was probably mostly conservatives. People seem to misunderstand what he was convicted of - his crime was money laundering, moving cash around for the express purpose of disguising it's source. He was found guilty of doing that. Since the law is mostly used against drug dealers, the penalty is severe, he should be glad he got off with three years, if he was some black kid in Houston hiding a deal over $1500 worth of crack, he would have went to jail for life. Instead, for corrupting our political process with millions in cash, he gets three years. He certainly wasn't a "fall guy", two others of his former staff went to jail too, and there was plenty of proof that Delay was the mastermind.

Delay. What a dirtbag.

Take a look at what he did to help Texas redistricting in 2001 and tell me that he has the people's best interests in mind.

I can see a guy like Delay doing that. He is such a vile and despised SOB, it is easy to assume the worst about him, but I can see where a guy like that would have some principles when it comes to standing up for his fellow believers.

The jury's guilty verdict and the judge's stiff sentence are encouraging to me. I seem them as evidence that the case is about more than politics. It appears that he really did commit a real crime, which is good to know. You never want to see a prosecutor go after someone for solely political or personal purposes.

In his own twisted mind, that might be exactly what he thinks he is doing. He is such a true believer, he thinks the ends justify the means. W is the same way, I think.
