I'm going to put the herd out to pasture and buy either a Mahindra 4010 or a Kubota L3900. Need 4x4 and FEL.

I'm leaning toward the Mahindra because it's about $5K cheaper for approx equal HP and config.

Last year somebody (AKLIM?) suggested some websites for tractors which I joined and learned a lot from. Thank you.

Y'all have any opinions (pa-hahahaha!!!)? In the town I live by there is a Kubota, New Holland, Deere and Mahindra dealer. New Holland was higher than Kubota so I eliminated that one. Deere is just a green Kioti (nothing against Kioti, but it's still priced like a Deere). So I narrowed my list to orange or red.

I have a lot of implements except my bush hog equivalent is worn out and I need a 5 ft cutter. But I don't need anything else.

Tell me what you think?
As much as I don't want to like the Mahindra, for no particular reason, I find myself strongly considering one after talking with contractors and farmers who have them. A lot of guys around here have them as their secondary equipment (JD and Kubota are still the big guns), but they still use the heck out of them and they say they've held up well in commercial applications.

I have an old '96 Kubota B7100 4x4 HST. Love everthing about it but the Thermo-syphon cooling. Gotta take the air hose and blow out the radiator before each use or it overheats. I think some of the slightly bigger one have a water pump and thus no overheating. This model has a 3 cylinder diesel 16hp. Came with a 60" belly mower. Needs new/better blades but cuts fine.

Half my land is sloping and the other half is near vertical (<40 degrees actually except for a couple spots-but it FEELS like 90 when you are mowing sideways on it!). When I bought this one I had just missed out on buying a larger B7200. Search craigslist thru searchtempest or something for best deals.

My wife's uncle has let me borrow his Kubota L-something. It's got 40-45 hp and a FEL. That orange bad boy is a beast and super reliable. I could find nothing about it that I didn't like except for maybe the grease fittings hunt the first few times. The FEL was strong and quick. I pulled a turning plow with no problem through bahia turf. It turned a 6 ft bush hog-type mower with ease and power. Yeah, I liked it a lot.

But the dang thing costs $5K more for the same config! Folks I know who have Mahindras (not many) like them as much as Kubota owners like Kubotas. The 5 yr warranty is no extra cost.

I'm also looking at the Mahindra 4025. A bit bigger and heavier. I like heavy.

From the dept of fwiw, I’ve used a couple of mid sized smaller tractors in the Kubota and smaller Deere size and also a larger one in the name of a Case 590. Hafta say that the Case vastly outperformed the smaller ones. I’m sure they cost more as well but can do about 3x the work in the same time.

I used them mostly for digging, pulling stumps, transporting and grading, and in all events the Case was way more efficient, i guess due to size and brute force. The Case was also more entertaining to use because it is such an amazing bit of very capable machinery.

I have a 4x4 Case backhoe/FEL with a shuttle shift and torque converter. It is a hoss. I can stand it on the loader bucket and drive the bucket into the ground. Get a good strong transmission, mine is a Carraro Transmission.

It takes me a long time but I can grade with it like a bulldozer.

Look at what it takes to work on it too. I can take out my transmission without splitting the tractor. Here's to praying I never have to, but ...

Mahindra is a Rush L sponsor. I don't know if that matters to you
