Buy it cheap and "WAIT" for the right buyer. It's sorta like fishing if you will.

BTW look on ebay for the seller. Bidnaman100 to see what I have for sale and vcart for what the wife has for sale.

Two things,
when I got divorced 20 years ago, my lawyer advised that I buy antique furniture especially the 100+ year old stuff. It was decorative, durable and in those days, everyone wanted new plastic crap. So I bought it cheaply for the most part and never have had to replace it. Plus, it usually had style.

For benhogan: so what are the appreciating assets we should buy?

fixed lawnmowers = inventory
$ from sales = mullah
mullah = vacations and project cars
vacations= deposits into the memory bank

appreciating assets= just by "SPY" or something similar and forget the rest.

Junk furniture is just exactly that: Junk.. I have been in the business all of my life, and have made a good living doing it.

As far as the tv shows go, they dont show you the pieces that they stole from the guy.. Pay attention to the truck next time, there is always more on the truck than they show.

The reason I call furniture junk, is because that is what I buy it as. When someone is in a hurry to liquidate an estate to sell the house, they will usually give away/ pay to have removed/ or sell very cheap. Thats where you make money.

Last estate I cleaned out I paid $200 for 3 bedroom sets, dining set couches, etc. Basically, I jam packed a 16 ft box truck full of good stuff.

The one bedroom set was a french provincial thomasville that sold in 3 days for $1495.
