And is the poop bright green? Serious question here.

When a girl tells me she is vegetarian I wonder if she poops a lot or has green poop.

And if she eats lots beans, well, my mind wonders....

Meat and other animal protein is more dense - has less fiber and other non-digestible items, so veggie poo volume is likely to be a bit higher.

Beans are actually very good food items. Most all varieties are among the highest anti-oxidant bearing foods. Pinto beans are almost as good as blueberries on that score. High in fiber also.

Sir, I prescribe at least three bean burritos a week for you.

The dark color of poo comes largely from glandular action - bile or something. IIRC.

This is the most discussed topic in the nursing homes. Bowel movements, Frequency and color. Diet does not matter at their age. Sometimes success is all they care about.

And 2nd shift ALWAYS gives the residents their daily quota of "ENSURE" about 15 minutes before the end of THEIR shifts and before the 3rd shift starts.

The "3s" just remove the "F" and throw those "bombs" out the window at the "2s" when that happens...and the "3s" WISH they could also throw the rest of the "shift" at the "2s" too!!!

I guess if it is green poop, you can't say "Looks to me like the best part of you ran down the crack of your mama's azz and ended up as a brown stain on the mattress". You'd have to change it to green stain

Beans are the staff of life. I eat beans every day. We cook an enormous pot of them every sunday regardless of whatever else is on the coming week's menu. Beans for breakfast for me. Forget the burrito stuff. Tortillas, cheese and all that grease just add unnecessary carbs and fat. Yeah I know, that's the good part, and I indulge sometimes, but rarely. The bacon I cook with my pintos adds all the flavor I need. Beans only cause excess gas in people who don't eat them very often, like any food high in fiber will do to someone who is accustomed to a low fiber diet. Vegetarians don't poop green, but I bet they poop more often, as high fiber diets facilitate the rate of food's passage thru the gut. There's no reason to sit on the pot and push and shove and grunt and groan trying to pinch a loaf. Eat more fiber, it's good for you.

I spent a week recently at a fasting and raw foods place, The Optimal Health Institute of Lemon Grove, near San Diego. You eat high fiber, raw vegetarian fare with a 3 day fast in the middle, well a solid food fast - you drink raw veggie juice and wheatgrass juice during the fast. I swear it's invigorating, it's the sort of change of pace our ancestors had several times a year for untold tens of thousands of years. Such periodic system cleaning is often not available in our modern set-up, where our favorite foods are easily available 24/7/365.

At any rate, I was telling my sister about it after Christmas and I mentioned that shortly after I started eating normally, I had one of the best bowel movements I've had in years. Should have taken a picture of it. About 12 to 14" long, one piece, curled around the bowl, expelled without effort in about two seconds.

I referred to it as 'serious radiator hose' and my 17 year old, star athlete nephew's ears perked up. Oh yeah, he said, there's a web site for that: rate my poo.com. That's close enough to get you there on a search, I'm not going to post the link.
