Quite possible, the only thing that will "fix" that issue is an improvement in the mexican economy. The US can put all the Barney Fifes it wants along the border; it won't make any difference.

Almost alway those who have never seen actual combat. My dad did his time in the military and rarely spoke of it again for the rest of his life.

You made a retorical question. You're always whining about healthcare that's why I brought it up.

I have 'been around' a little myself, and will tell you this. The guys who say they will do this, or do that..in most cases freeze when it comes down to the nitty-gritty. Lets say, confronted by a car jacker, with a gun placed on their lower orbit..when time compresses, and things get r.e.a.l. slow. These guys are the ones who get knock kneed, and almost piss their pants.

As a "small government" conservative, I don't see any justification for keeping them on the taxpayers payroll any longer than necessary.

Why not keep them in and put them to work rebuilding the infrastructure?

Indirectly, I agree. Reduce the size of the military and use some of the funds to help support infrastructure projects in the private sector, creating some civilian jobs and stimulated to domestic economy.
