Chuck Snowris

Watching Nightline and that's one of the names people are throwing out for this 2011 blizzard
The high winds are what's making it wild here. Plows will clear a road only to have it drift back over 20 minutes later.

Just a couple miles is the difference between a clean highway, and a snow/ice packed highway. Been in and out of it for going on two days now.

Witnessed a couple guys headed to ransack a split wide open 18 wheeler trailer van exposing pallets and pallets of what looked like all 32 oz. Keystone beer in cases. The wreck had happened hours prior - and the two jerks were slip-sliding across two lanes on foot causing a car in front of an 18 wheeler and me to have to wonder if they were going to get out of the way. They changed their minds when they saw a city police cruiser approaching.

You should probably think about tying a rope from your house to your outhouse so you don't get lost in the blizzard. Good luck!

That pile of junk is going in the trash as soon as the weather improves. They did not build it for the Kansas wind.

Lol, I was just making a general blizzard reference, I actually didn't notice that little shed next to your house. But, what you think I meant is funnier...

The dumbest part of stuff like this blizzard is how the sheep of the population respond. Gas stations/stores packed and ransacked. Seriously? Are people out there so pre-programmed paranoid that they do these things? I'm sure no one has enough supplies to last the whole 1.5-2 days max that this storm could delay their fueling or shopping. Sheesh. They act like its the end of the world. As though buying a few loaves of bread, some meat, and some eggs, are going to help you in reality. If the power is out you're going to be grilling in the snow, or eating it all raw anyways.

We're firmly in the ice belt. NO FUN. Lose several branches the last 2 nights, and I suspect some of the trees won't make it.

I agree re: the folks hitting the stores. They were out in-force Monday, which drove my wife nuts. She had put off our normal grovery shopping, and had to deal with the doom & gloomers. I do kind of wish I'd kept my folks' old kerosene heater. With a baby in the house, we'll need heat if the power DOES go out.

Power went out here about 8 this morning. The main wire is broken just down the street and the elec co was there looking at it for an hour then they all drove away and left it broken. The owner of the local gas station, who is on generator power-as am I-said it may be Friday before full service is restored because the elec co is short on transformers. For this I pay 17 cents Kw/hr.

It's amazing how often our regular grocery trip coincides with the doom-and-gloom forecast.

OTOH we had a home grocery delivery last night, scheduled between 7-9pm, show up at 10:30pm because of the snow (they did call at 9:30 to see if that was ok). The delivery dude was surprisingly cheerful given the conditions. We did tip him a bit more than usual.

Brilliant. Being a midwestern kid at the time I always watched Walker Texas Ranger. Before his famous silver Dodge for the first few seasons he had this:

At that time we were living on a working horse ranch and my father had a few of these trucks. My favorite was the black one with red interior and flowmasters. I'll have to find the picture of my 7th birthday party with myself all the kids getting in the back of the truck and taking a ride around the property.

Chuck Snowris it is.

Your car is oddly very clean for that amount of snow.
