The new SLS

I had my current MB into the dealer today for "a" service. While waiting to check out at the Enterprise desk, my salesman spotted me & started a conversation.
We ended up migrating to the center of the showroom, where a brand new, shiny, black SLS (typo fixed R) was parked. I oohed 7 ahh'ed at it a bit, so he went & got the keys.
Very cool gull wing doors. Very cool interior, though quite difficult to park my big a$$ in to even when back loading in.
At a cool $200,000 plus, certainly way out of my range.

But very fun to look at

So....was it an SLS or an SLR?

Personally as far as looks go I prefer the later even if the SLS is probably easier to live with on a day to day basis.

Any car with explosive bolts in the door hinges is cool.

A few years ago I was at the dealer buying something and the parts guy took me into the back to see an SLR that a local oil-man had ordered. I was in there a lot for awhile trying to get parts for the old 6.3 and they knew I was in the oil business in some way.

I think he said was the price was $430,000 or so. Does that sound right?

A place in Dallas has one for sale for $325,000. It is a 2008 but it is still in warranty!

The ad says it was $512,000 new, so I must have been looking at an entry level model.

Yup, that sounds about right. Here's a 2006 with 349 miles that's been for sale for awhile at a dealer near here, it almost looks like a pretty good deal...
