March issue of Playboy

Read in the Raw Data section. "Drivers of Mercedes Benz SL class convertibles are four tines more likely than the average driver to get a ticket"

Is it based on the study to which this article refers?

http://www.motorauthority.com/blog/1050502_study-mercedes-sl-class-drivers-four-times-more-likely-to-get-a-ticket

Go to the second page of that article to see more details, including numbers for what they consider to be "spirited cars" and "cautious" cars.

Does MB make non convertible SL's? Do the non convertible models get less tickets? So I ought to buy a gull wing version to be a less ticketed driver?

I don't need to read anything to tell me NOW, that I could be very "spirited" or frisky when driving a 1973 220D automatic, with 59 hp.

...and getting from 0-60 mph in 28 seconds.

I chose

I consider the picture of the car in my sig, is not a convertible since is has no retractable top.

A 60's or 70's era muscle car will also attract a lot of ticket action. I used to know a man who had a nice 1970 SS Camaro. He said a ricer would fly by him at twice the speed of sound while he would be only 5 over. While the ricer sped off into the sunset unabated he was the one receiving the speeding citation. He told me it finally got so bad that he had to sell the car.

So, in order to keep insurance rates down, no SLs or muscle cars. Think cars your grandmother would drive, i.e. Buick LeSabre, Oldsmobile etc. and all will be well.

For that EXACT reason I have retired the AMG effective March 1 and put in on "collector status" insurance wise, and it sits freshly waxed and detailed in the garage, under a car cover, out of sight and out of mind - ALMOST.

$5500 a year for car insurance was just too much for me. I think that kind of rate is going into convicted drunk driver insurance rate terrtory.

that is how com I got the Mercury Grand Marquis, it does everything a car shoud go, drives, backs up, stops, gives me music heat and AC when I want it, and with the $800 factory option "dual Media cassette/CD" option I just added, I can get caught up on 25 years of cassettes I have not heard for years.

I go pretty slow now. I got a sedated ride with that Mercury. (as seen a week or so ago

But I can't help it, I cxan't stop moddng cars, so I am making a Crown Vic Police Interceptor clone car out of it. Put on a dual exhaust and Mercury Marauder sway bars, and next up are the Police interceptor MAF, airbox, and zip tube and maybe a 3.27 rear end and Police Interceptor shocks.

My mechanic said with the 40% tint, I should festoon the roof and trunk with antennas and it would scare off people that think it was an FBI car. Maybe one coming after THEM !!!

Umm I actually mean, SEDATED!

[Elwood Blues Jake Blues has a fight over the police car Elwood Blues got after he traded away the original bluesmobile for a microphone]
Elwood: You don't like it?
Jake: No I don't like it...
[Elwood Blues floors the pedal and jumps over an open drawbridge]
Jake: Car's got a lot of pickup.
Elwood: It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?
[a brief thinking pause while Jake attempts to light a cigarette]
Jake: Fix the cigarette lighter.
