If its a case of not being able to get to work I would think putting it on a credit card and getting it paid off as fast as possible would be the best thing to do. It really isn't your problem so you shouldn't be stressed about it.

You've got a lot of good things going for you, and you sure as heck don't want to take them for granted. My recent failed long term relationship's was blamed on this somewhat. Not that I didn't make serious efforts nor did I ever get a real warning or ultimatum. Anyway I'm going off on a tangent.

Moving close to UCF is a no brainer. You're spending $200-300 a week I imagine on gas, plus there's all the time you waste commuting, and the extra wear on your car. You can suck it up and find a normal college sub $10 an hour job that gives you more hours. You know they cut your hours at publix because you're too expensive.

Actually it's like 350 a month in gas and Ivan transfer publixes and keep my rate. I've got all the parts I need quoted. $225 for everything. Then 175 for the head to be rebuilt

I would do what I could to help my Parents. It sounds to me like you are doing that. You are a good Son.

That's not bad at all. A member here had the timing chain snap on his 617 at highway speed. He fixed it himself but was still out around $6000.

Yeah, if I recall correctly that was Craig. He out in a reman engine and had a dealership do the work. If i had a 617 snap the chain I'd put in a used motor. Done.

I was referring to Charlie from Soquel. He went with a reman engine and with a few odds and ends along with it, the total came to right at six grand. If I had the same problem, I'd do the same.

My friend, Ray, the parts guy at the dealership called me and said he forgot to add on the water pump to the order so it's going to be around $260 for the parts. I'm going to knock off the new valve cover gasket since the original is still good.


Now pending head work we shall see what my total is.

Ray said he can get me a brand new head for around $600. But I'll still need the $260 worth of stuff.. We'll see
