check out www.usajobs.gov
As a Vet you will get a bit of a boost when the hiring decision is made. One caution, though. Unless you are a Doctor these jobs do not pay as well as you might have heard. |

write a good resume, not just a thrown together something, get help writing it if needs be. go here Pay the $19 or whatever it is now for the online only subscription. This will get your resume in a 1000 hands in a week. Be willing to relocate or it will take a little longer. A LOT of firms go contract to direct because if the guys a schmuk it costs them nothing to let him go. If you are OK, Likely they will make you an offer. Dont sell yourself short. Engineers with CAD experience get $40-$50/hr and more if you go short term or go to Minnisota.

Taking weekends off is a good thing. Most people forget that looking for work is a full time job.

I’ve got a few sheepskins. I have to admit though, that I
can’t for the life of me figure out just how much any of them have ever helped me get a job or aided me in my career. Never really used any of them in a hands on environment. Aviation is a 99% who you know, not a what you know industry. And, a very, very small one at that. My dad taught me two things when I started out: 1.Take-offs are optional. Landings are mandatory. 2.Never say “no” to anyone who asks you to fly anything. #1 was pretty self explanatory. #2 taught me to sarcastically state: “It’s got wings, don’t it?” (I do draw the line at a PT6 chained to a sheet of plywood though.) I think #2 is applicable in any career. Especially small industry careers. Eventually, you’ll either run into someone from the past, or your name will come up amongst the “higher-ups”. The last thing you want is anything negative related to it.

Its in the process of becoming accredited. I have friends with the degree from UCF that got jobs, no issues.. Its coming out of a University, a real one, not one you just buy degrees from. I guess that theory bs I have to do is worth it.

Actually, while we are on the subject of degrees, quite a few of the people that I work with have degrees from Universities outside of the US. I talked to my manager about this, and he told me that its almost impossible for him to verify their education. Language and time constraints/barriers make it very difficult to get an answer, so many of the people I work with may or may not have a real degree.... O_O

we have that trouble as well. they send engineering work to China because a degreed engineer there makes $4/hr. Problem is they give them a degree for standing in a library and learning where to find the books and learning Pro/E or Solidworks. They are not even good enough to be techs here. We fix their crappy designs here all the time and yet managers are still anamored by the $4/hr
