Instead of applying a label such as ..'just look at that alchoholic'..
I have always observe someone who has a problem, and
wonder..'Gee, What happened in this guys life, so that he is beating himself up like this'.

Gee, maybe I am unsympathetic to this crap because Daddy beat me all the time and Mommy didn't love me enough.

My teachers at school were terrible and mistreated me, I had classmates that made me the "pinata", etc, etc, ad nauseam.

Know why Mindfawks weren't that popular in your end of the world, at least when I left it? No breaks were given so the excuse was unnecessary.

BTDT and quit cold turkey. So did Dad, my good friend (alcoholic and drugs) and his father, to name a few. If you want to quit it, you can. OTOH, if you want someone to give you a reason, you won't or will be back. If I was that far off, Drs Remmington, Winchester and CCI can fix it. Or if I am where you are, a rope will.

I have seen many alcoholics walk away from the bottle on their own steam. OTOH, there are many others who are incapable of doing it on their own, get help and go back. Just got done with a heroine addict playing "yo-yo". Each time he quit, it was the last time. Hasn't seemed to work. He doesn't really want to quit for himself. It is his family, friends, etc, etc.

If it is a physical issue, medication can help. OTOH, if it is an issue because you don't have the will to quit, I doubt anything will help for long.

I will agree with you ,that they dont coddle drug addicts here.
First offence, and sentence is 2 yr hard labor.
Second offence , and get 4 yr hard labor.
Each offence after that, 4 yrs.
Guilty of trafficking narcotics..nets a visit with the hang-man

As for hard-core alkies, the family usually shuns them..so they have to resign themselves to living in a tent out on East coast beach.

I am amazed that I still get paper catalogs/ads in the mail. Every day I throw out several. It must cost a fortune, does anyone look at that stuff?

Kids today....

When I was young we had the sears catalog and some 10 year old copies of playboy hidden away. Now every 10 year old with a phone has access to stuff that I didn't even know existed until I was about 30.
