It seems lately that when selling parts I get a lot of people that start a transaction just stop emailing or calling after I got to the trouble to find postage cost. If you decide not to get the parts from me that is fine. Just shoot an email saying you changed your mind. that is all there is to it. I have several people asking about the same parts and would like to give another person a chance. There are about 5 of you on this forum right now that have done this over the past 2 weeks.

I thank the ones that have kept in contact whether they decided to buy or changed their mind.

I will always do my best to sell the parts fairly. I am not a commercial vendor, just a regular guy selling parts to support my hobby.

I do not understand. As a seller, answering email or showing the goods is the 'cost' of doing business. It is part of the game or fun.

Absolutely. Folks that don't understand that cash talks and BS walks will waste your time all day long. The only alternative is to take a non-refundable deposit of some sort.

It's an offshoot of the internet generation. These are individuals who rarely conduct business face to face, and consider other people's effort and time disposable. You might as well get used to it. Some will shop around and jump on an item from someone else if it's 50 cents cheaper, regardless of the help you provide.

I think we see these days an extension of "its nice to be important, but more important to be nice"

In your case tyler, they probably see you as a nice , decent & honest person & they are 'scared' of upsetting you as you have been decent to them.
There are just too many tire kickers out there, nothing to do on the w/e? Go looking at cars that you may never be able to afford to own.

Over time one starts to be able to see the time wasters more & more accurately.

Many of us believe the deal is not done until the funds are cleared & in the bank.

I've stopped advertising my cars on forums after I saw some people advertise pretty nice cars here and then saw people with big mouths and empty pockets trash talk them,

Craigslist for the most part, is not much better. You get a lot of people asking for pictures of one thing or another, you go through the effort to give give them what they asked for, then you hear nothing.

A couple of tricks that i've learned is to give as much detail as possible and not to bother leaving your Email address or a means for people to Email you.

Serious buyers call about a car and after a few calls, you'll very quickly be able spot the time wasters and move them along.

most people are kind of spacey, especially here in los angeles.

in the last two months, i have purchased a couch and a coffee table off craigslist. i studied the ads, called and asked questions, and had made up my mind that if the product was the real deal, i would buy it and take it home immediately. (did i mention that i took cash with me.?) anyway, the products were legitimate, i gave them the money, and was done with it. (maybe because i don't like "shopping"? and i don't like stringing people along? did i mention i also don't understand people who like to spend time in malls, just strolling and window shopping?)

i think some people are just bored, and like to pretend they might buy something?

I was selling a Euro bumper on CL not too long ago. Another old MB parts seller emailed me saying I got it from the yard and should sell it to him for half the asking price I was selling it for, and told me it will not sell for my asking price.

I told him thanks for the interest and I wasn't in a hurry to sell.

Few days later I was able to sell the bumper for my asking price, and the same guy is now selling his Euro bumpers for more than the asking price I previously posted
