San Diego does not suck
We came out for my dads surgery. He had a plate removed from is hip (all went well). So when we are not at tbe hospital we are being tourists. I miss living out here. This is out in Seaport village.

Used to live in PB right at the beach, my sister still lives in La Jolla. Not a bad place if you want to settle.

I am seriously contmplating relocating to there.
Looking to buy a place in ENCINITAS, about a mile iland from the beach, and 20 mies north of San Diego, on the coast, just up from Cardiff-on-the-Sea and Solana Beach. It is like Carmel but with out the touists And about 75* 80* weather, al year long. About perfect.

I've been there a few times, most recently in '09 for a couple of long ADT's in Coronado (work IOW). I will admit a considerable fondness for the place, but the cost of living it outrageous and then there's the matter of it being located in California and subject to the silliness of California law. In summary: Awesome place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Lived there for 45 years. NO interest in going back. Unless you are in (and not move around outside of) some very tiny specific neighborhoods (Leucadia - a "subset" of Encinitas being one example) San Diego city and county is one of the most absurdly bigoted and conservative areas around.

I grew up in LA and left in 1997. My dad moved down here after my mom passed away. The weather is great and there is so much to do. If I could ford to Id be here in a NY second.

We woke up early today to the USS Carl Vinson. Dock in the San Diego harbor. Pretty impressive. The USS Bunker Hill came in first (will post pics after I get them off the camera) and then came the Vinson.
Everyone we talked to said it was going to be a big deal due to her being involved with OBL but there was only 1 helo and about 10 surface vessels. Not many people where we were (by the USS Midway) but the news said the bridge was pretty busy. Here are a few pics from the cell phone.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the Gaslight District a few years ago when I was out there for the golf show. I'm not sure I could live there but 70's and sunny is about my ideal, year-round weather!

I have some pictures of the Nimitz leaving when I was their a few years ago, I was standing on Loma Point, which isn't to far from where you are.
Their is a nice restaurant their on the water, forget the name, but its hard to miss its right next to the marina's. Nice area, wouldn't want to live their though. Its expensive, and CA has to many silly laws, ie in regards to guns.
