The problem with gun laws, sorry I'm generall against guns, is they don't include an intelligence test. Although they would disqualify 70% of the applicants.

i'll agree with that 100%.you should also have to have a qualifying test to see if you can actually hit a target.

To drive a car you need to show some minimal competence. As a gun owner I see no conflict between a basic firearms skills test and the second amendment. As it stands right now, pretty much the only firearms training available to most people comes with a large dose of NRA right wing BS at no additional cost.

The problem with gun laws is that they don't take into account the fact, and it is a fact that has been proven countless times in the past and will continue to be proven in the future, that no matter how smart the owner is in hiding the gun it seems that any 5 year old can find it and shoot his friend

Not at my house unless the 5 year old develops proficient safe cracking skills. In that case I'd be a bit more worried about why they wanted the gun in the first place!

People are idiots, in a case like this it makes for one heck of a funny news story!

Said pistol was probably a little Kel Tec or something similar, they have a really long heavy trigger pull but other than that no safety's. In theory if its stored in its holster its impossible for an accidental discharge, in theory.

I don't really trust such designs because triggers can always be accidentally pulled, I won't own a pistol without a positive safety that blocks the trigger, like a 1911, for example.

Even the lauded Glock safety trigger, plenty of people have shot themselves with their own Glock.

This Walther is a better design, it has a hammer drop and positive safety on the upper slide, which is very European. Same as a 92FS and Mak. I like this design, if the trigger catches when you shove it down your pants you won't shoot your penis off!

This is what I bet his wife had, or something similar. All the cheap little .380's/9's have about the same battery of arms. Notice the trigger is very far out in the guard, almost like a toy gun. The reason for this is for a long heavy pull which in theory makes accidental discharges impossible. Also you carry them in a holster which covers the trigger. Still if the trigger is pulled it will go off.

The reason for this design is because its easier to make and less training intensive. A manual safety must be swept off for the weapon to function, and in a stressful situation that may not happen. When you consider someone 20ft away with a knife can stick you with in in only a few seconds, not remembering to sweep the safety can be the difference between life and death.

This is why most law enforcement agencies issue Glocks, they are less training intensive than everything else, because quite frankly most cops don't shoot anywhere near enough. With a Glock its just point and click, nothing to remember, and the 17's they are issued have close to bottomless mags.
