Great thread. Takes me back in time.
The Who - Substitute 1966 - YouTube

I recall a buddy with his cheap electric guitar & mini amp struggling to imitate The Who.

We were all of 11 years old.

Baba O'Riley in an F-14 Tomcat tribute video.

Takes me back to the day. In 1968, I had just transferred from AIRLANT back to CIVLANT Life was indeed good. Wish I knew then what I know now.

Gotta say it's a three way tie Springsteen U2 and The Who were phenomenal.

Keith's drumming has never been matched, let alone, imitated to his level. His skills are often ignored/overlooked. HE was never overpowering and fit in perfectly with the mates.

His loss was, also, the world's.

Although I specialized in woodwinds in college, drumming was an extremely close 2nd to what I really wanted to do. But, I didn't have "formal training" when I was in Jr. High to be able to pick "percussion" as the "instument of choice."

Now, "thumbing the bar" is the best I can do...

BTW: TOMMY and WHO'S NEXT are on the iShuffle...
