Okay, I can accept that, but it's not the governments place to pick winners and losers. If Al Gore is so stinking smart that he can do better than GM, then let HIM take the risk, instead of risking MY tax money.

BTW, I thought his expertise was in things like Global Warming and inventing the internet. There's a whole thread here that much of the gripe on the left is the Cronieism between DC and Wall Street. What is this?

Also, if the US Government had money running out their ears it would be a different situation. For those of you that might not have yet noticed, We have over $14Trillion in debt. Pi$$ing away money given our current economic situation is not smart!

Fisker was explaining why his company wanted the loan: to restructure an old GM plant in Delaware and make plug-ins there. ABC put the story up, and then folks like Sarah Palin caught wind of it. Earlier today, Palin tweeted, "This is outrageous. Wake up, America." A staffer to Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) joined in. Palin's outrage is somewhat understandable, given that ABC asks if, "whether another Solyndra is in the offing" with Fisker. To anyone who knows the full story, though, there is very little in the ABC article that's actual news. The only thing we noted was that Fisker said the Nina has already been designed and built and is being kept under wraps for competitive reasons.

We'd like to say that American should not pay any more attention to what Palin says about Fisker, but her tweets can be heard for miles, apparently. The DOE responded in a clear statement that says, "While the vehicles themselves are being assembled in Fisker's existing overseas facility, the Department's funding was only used for the U.S. operations. The money could not be, and was not, spent on overseas operations." Will it get the same traction?

I cant understand why people take the word of some ex politician, who is fully qualified to pick his nose in public & not much else on something as technically complicated as this.

We are no better here in Australia, our head of government is a "red headed clown" probably as smart as her counter part at McD's.

The adds you see for some celeb indorsing a product are a joke. Its high time popularity polls stayed out of decisions on technical matters.

GM made an electric car and it has been a flop. Indirectly some of our tax money has been pi$$ed away on that. Now you guys want to give Mr. Green Jeans money to PRODUCE it in another country. Even if you think it's a good idea to pump MY tax money into this, do you REALLY think it's wise to pump the money into it when it would, IF successful, produce jobs IN ANOTHER COUNTRY?

Come on guys! Put on your thinking caps here. I thought we were needing jobs in THIS country.
