We didn't fare too badly. No power but no damage. Just boredom. My wife and kids headed south to my FIL's to the heat and electricity. I'm just hanging out at work in the dark with the generator running so the phones will work. We're right in the middle of our early order season so it's more than a bit inconvenient to be without phones and computers. I'm testing the limits of my iPhone, though.

That's where I'm at. I've still got knob & tube and screw-in fuses for most of my house.

My dad sent me these pics, from SwampYankee and Fulcrum territory . My MBs are safe, thankfully, and somehow the important things (house, power lines, cars, pool) were all missed somehow. Apparently its even worse in our woods (can sort of see them in the pics)

Kudos to all those hosting those without...

power, heat, etc.

not too many issues here in the city. My co-op lost 100 large branches and 2 trees and the areas around us lost a fair amount of limbs. Bayside took a hit but the trees there have had their roots compromised by cutting for sidewalks and driveways so there is little room for sway. Good thing is the worst trees went in last years tornado so that thinned out the widomakers.

2 folks in the tri state were killed by downed power lines, one fellow didn't have a chance as he stepped outside to check on the tree fall damage and a downed power line had energized his lawn. the other tried to move a power line off his car and it energized the standing water around his feet.

No issues down hear, hardly any snow either.

Way to early though, I'm now working 7 days a week until the end of the year.

I feel for you!! Mine is at least breakers. Push o matics that cost about $80 bucks a pop when they decide not to reset. The electrician will be here one day next week to give me a quote on the new service. I get to pull all the new wires and all the connections, I just need him to inspect and give his blessing for the township permit.

Fuses are actually safer than breakers, since they never "jam." The safety problem lay with retarded users who replaced them with coins or other metal objects after they blew.
