I am just wondering how religious he was BEFORE day 666 entered his mind. And I wonder, since its odd he was fired, how much of a problem employee he was prior. I also bet that there was some heated argument that resulted in his termination. In other words he flip-out and was terminated for be belligerent, not for refusing to wear the sticker.

I took a blacksmithing course at Mineral Wells in 1987... the famous owner of that owned the post office box number 666.
He was famous for sharp shooting and using a whip...

BWFA Hall of Fame

I thought it was marketing genius because who would not remember that as an address ?

69 is a better number. Turn it around and it is still 69

The worker could have turned the sticker upside down and said he was a Herman Cain supporter.

Sad. I understand his POV, but reject it.
No he should not have been fired for not wearing it.
Yes, he probably will win a lawsuit--or take a settlement. Hope the company owner is not considering a run for the Presidency in 20 years.

This reminded me of a similar situation from about 40 years ago.

There was a guy who did not want to display a number or symbol or something because he said it signified something he did not agree with. This was some kind of company moral builder or something; I really don't remember.

I told him, "OK."

And that is all there is to that story.

There is such a thing as letting your employees be happy while they are working.

I do not feel like looking it up but if KS is a right to work the company does not need cause to terminate. I know this from first hand experience in TX.

Either way I'll bet pennies to dollars that they wanted him gone for more reasons than not wearing a sticker. Kind of stupid for using that as cause for termination but if they have the other stuff documented he is toast. I have a boss who is a religious fruit like him. I don't trust him any farther than I can throw him.

I think that is correct. Here in MD non-contract employees work for as long, and only as long as their employment is mutually agreeable to them and their employer. (I think I wrote that correctly--but I'm sure some lawyer will correct me if I didn't)
However, if this firm gave a reason for firing him, then they open the door to a lawsuit for discrimination, right? ( Again, correct me if I got that wrong).
They could have just said, " We decoded to make a change in your department; your position has been eliminated. We are not hiring. Happy Thanksgiving!"

In my previous commercial building the space I took for my office was 666. I had never heard of it related to revelations so thought nothing of it. Next door was the Christian Science Reading Room. Someone from there commented about it. After thinking about it I decided to change it. I called the city engineers office and asked how to change my address. They said I had to appear at the board of zoning appeals, fill out a bunch of forms etc. I said OK I'll think about it.

So I asked my sign painter to paint the address 666 1/6 on my door. The sign painter was a druggie and when I got back to look at it he had painted 666 1/3 on the door in gold leaf. I said "good enough".

Next day my mailman came along and saw the sign. He said, "did you go to the city engineer etc etc? " I said "no".....then I said "If i put 666 1/3 on all my business cards and stationary and folks start sending me mail at that address and it comes into your box at the post office, what are you going to do with it?" He said "I guess I'll deliver it here". I said "good".

And so my address became 666 1/3 Main st. Of course somewhere in a file in the city hall City engineer's office resides a little sheet with my address as 666 Main st.

You sound like the Chinese folk I knew growing up. The number "8" in the Chinese language sounds very close to the word "luck" and so houses with that number are especially prized. The number "4" sounds a lot like the word "death" and thus shunned and the price is lower.

It means nothing to me, spiritually.

I do like a symetrical number, aesthetically speaking though. When I built my house I had a choice of several numbers which needed to begin with 42 and could end with several choices. I chose 424.

When I built a spec house a block more or less straight east of my house I got to choose the number again. Again I chose the symetrical number 414 I think it was.

But as far as the number 666 being the sign of the devil....only in some superstitious folk's minds.
