Dryer vent.....

Heat, I took the dyer vent hose off of the dryer and am letting the hot air run through the house. The electric heat hasn't kicked on all day. I put some window screen on the end of the hole.

Watch your humidity levels as you are pumping a lot of moisture into the house.

You could build a decent heat exhanger. The ones sold for clothes dryers are toys. A shame to waste all that heat.

You have to design it so you can clean the lint out periodically or capture it all before the air enters the exchanger. Not rocket science. With todays energy costs worth the effort.

The plastic hoses tend to slow air and lint movement down.I have taken it for granted that it is an electric clothes dryer. You should have pipe on them and not the flexiable plastic hose with the wire to hold it in shape. Fire hazzard with lint accumulation.

Fair amount of house fires from people going out and leaving their dryer running each year.

An old air to air intercooler could work

It's a almost new electric dryer.

There are inexpensive internal vent devices available which use a water trap to capture the lint.

Never saw one yet but they sound good. There are also a two way flap valve to direct the airflow out or into the house. These are almost 100 percent efficient but you have the moisture component with them. Not so big an issue in an older house. For an open dryer pipe the door screen may be a little coarse.

Go out front and ask the first lady going by if you can have her panty hose. Or take them off your wife. She may be somewhet disapointed if you tell her after that you just need a pair for a lint filter.

I use them to strain paint.

So the internal lint trap doesn't catch all of the lint?

My mom/dad gave us an electric clothes dryer for X-mas. The house was built in 1935 and has never had one so there is no 220v outlet for it nor is there a vent line. We do have a nice clothes line though.

I think clothes last longer if they are not dried in an electric/gas clothes dryer.

I agree, I clean the vent almost daily.

re use dryer heat

for years I have used the waste heat,, built a 20 x 20 in box and use a high micron furnace filter,, to trap lint / dust,, have a moisture meter in the base ment, and it never goes above 50 % in the winter,, up it's - 15 C outside now as I write,, has been some debate on the soap used in washing, but the rinse cycle is always used,, Grandkids get skin rash if soap is left in ,, so far so good, up stairs the humidity is 55% and the piano is still in good tune,, in summer I use the solar powered widget.

Cool man. Our house is usually very dry in the winter time, so the added moisture might be a good thing.

Old pantyhose works even better, but needs to be changed more frequently.

Most houses can use the extra humidity in the winter, and it makes it feel warmer too.

I don't have a dryer, but I hang the clothes to dry indoors in winter. The extra humidity is very welcome.
