Giants vs. 'Niner's.........

........and it should be a good one! Everyone knows what I think, what about you guys?

I think a soggy, muddy field will slow down the Giants passing attack, so they better hope Bradshaw and Jacobs can get it going on the ground.

The Giants "D" will show up ready to go no matter what.

Giants 27. 'Niner's 17.

I'm rooting for the Giants, so that means that the 49ers will win.

It's wide open. Could go either way. I hope Vernon Davis settles down, two 15 yard penalties, neither really hurt them, but we need his head in the game. I'm wishing Smith would air it out a little more. They got the lead first, they need to retake it. No lead changes.

SF's special team (KR) is their own worst enemy.

So much for an underdog playing in the Super Bowl. Giants win.

Weird game. That we were in there that close for that long, is surprising. All D. We needed the Smith of last week but I guess he still has growing to do. I lost track of how many passes he threw into the ground, several yards short of the receiver. Did not convert a single third down all game. (?!?) And that guy who let the punt bounce off his knee and then acted like he hoped no one would notice, I wouldn't be surprised if dude is looking for a job before too long. That might have been the error that lost the game.

One thing that griped me, was that business of playing catious at the end of the first half. That letting the 2 minute warning go off instead of running a play. And then on the next play, Smith had Davis looking good downfield, but no, wouldn't want to stop the clock with an incompletion.

Oh well, it was a much better season than any of us would have hoped for.

It's all Newman's fault.

Williams' ineptitude was directly responsible for ten Giants points.

Worse than letting the ball hit his knee, he should have signaled fair catch on that ball and gone up and caught it (at least 10-12 yards better field position, too). If there was some reason he couldn't, the rule is to get the heck out of the way of it no matter what (to prevent what actually happened). His two errors on that single play were 7 Giants points. But for that, the OT likely never would have happened, where the fumble after being stripped could have happened to anyone.

Nonetheless, it's a team sport and you can't really lay the blame on one guy for losing the game any more than you can lay the win on one guy when it goes the other way. After all, anyone can have an off day.

Still, the Niners weren't supposed to be there anyway, so good for them getting that far. At least it wasn't the odious Raiders.

The whole season shocked the crap outta me. I never thought I'd see an Alex Smith led team beat the likes of an Eli Manning led team (reg. season) or a Drew Brees led team in the playoffs. The guy has talent but he lacks something. Had two good throws to Davis and one good run but other that that, he stank up the joint today. Not sure why. OTOH, he has the highest stats on ball protection. But that could be because he's TOO safe, too cautious.

But yeah, Williams sure 'dropped the ball,' pun intended. After it hit his leg he just froze. Almost should have kept him out of the game after that.

The Niners have but two top caliber offensive skill players. Gore & Edwards. All the other "skill players" are average. That, and lack of big game experience. Coaching could have been a little better. How come it took the 49ers a half to play better pass defense? Hector Cruz ran through them like Jerrey Rice resurrected.
And Manning's TD to Manningham was the best pass he'll ever throw. That was the dagger imo.

Am I the only one who thought the play by play announcers were pretty bad?

Calling Baltimore New England and missing players names way too often??

Not Jim Nance's or Joe Buck's best day.
