Tech question...
My television has a limited number of inputs, and they are full. The kids have multiple gaming systems and have to unplug one to plug another in each time they want to play the different system.
Is there a switch box available that I can plug multiple A/V jacks into and switch to the one I want to use instead of unplugging each time? I fear that the kids may tear up the television by getting behind it. My input limits are as follows... RGB (to use it as a computer monitor) Two HDMI ports which are both used...one by the satellite box and the other by the blueray) Comp A/V The gaming systems we have that we switch around regularly are: Playstation Nintendo NES Wii XBOX XBOX 360 What are my options??

What outputs are on the gaming systems? There are certainly a wide variety of manual and automatic video switches available. Only limited by your budget. What model is your TV? When you say "comp" is it the yellow connector or the green, red and blue? When you say "A/V", what type of input is that?

Vizio...
Comp is Green, red and blue. By A/V, I mean the Red, White, and Yellow RCA cables...right audio, left audio and video. All of the gaming systems use the A/V outputs, but one of them also has the option of HDMI. Both of the HDMI inputs are currently in use by other components.

I don't want the kids in my room, where the second television resides. It's my Fortress of Solitude away from the noise of the damned video games. LOL
I don't want the kids to have televisions in their rooms...They have proven time and again that they'll stay up and watch movies instead of sleep.

This may take a little bit of time, but map each gaming system's connections to your set, then head to your local RatShack and see if yours still has a decent compliment of A/V switches and related routing gear...
Then, set up a little switch-central, where the lil' buggers can punch buttons without risking a "tip-over" b/c they were climbing behind the set itself. Now, if the local RatShack is manned by part-time monkey-typists, find a decent Radio/TV Shop in your Yellow Pages and give them a shot at supplying you a few switches for your project. If you're getting no satisfaction there, then a local Sound/Lighting store might have what you need. After that (or before anything else), your best bet could be some on-line places...B&H Photo in NY (I think) has an unbelievable stash of the wierdest stuff you could ever imagine needing...they've come up with some pretty wild stuff for some projects I've needed in the past that no one I knew of, locally, would have ever thought of. Good luck with your project...

I would imagine that the game systems all use HDMI connections, so those are the ones I would put on a switcher. (Whichever format you have the most of really)
HDMI switchers are ~$50 Eversun Technologies HDMI-4I 4 x 1 HDMI Switcher HDMI4I B&H For only $39.15 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 4X1 HDMI® Switcher w/ Toslink & Digital Coaxial Port (Rev.2) w/ 3D support. | Auto & Powered HDMI Switches Monoprice is the source for cabling.... I've used their cables for a few years with no issues, aside from paying pennies on the dollar to get them...

MONOPRICE IS THE BOMB.
I've purchased a few diff AV switching boxes, primarily for HDMI.

Since you're currently using the composite AV connections and I assume you're happy with the quality, I think i have an automatic AV switch around somewhere that may have enough inputs. It works fine and I'll be happy to give it to you.

It's probably the same or a newer version of what I have. It's worked fine for years, never a problem.

My wife had some sort of discount coupon that brought the price down to $22 and change. So far, it's doing what I wanted it to do. With the game systems hooked up, it leaves me with one empty spot to hook up the old VCR to keep the wife happy. She has a few old movies that we don't have copies in digital format yet.
