Beacuase heavier vehicles pay more than regular cars. They want to know which rate to apply to your transponder.

As Booberment gets more efficient (I know, a paradox in and of itself...) it has to find ways to keep the recently "displaced" BooberUnionit off the unemployment line...therefore, find something the unit can do...make up a job classification, assign some duties using Booberment-speak mixed in with a level of Legalese that no one in their right mind would spend any time on trying to decipher...aaaaannnnnnddddd...*** TAH! DAH! ****

A new convert to the world of free money at the expense of, and off, the back of the real people that keeps this country running...yet...the taxpayer.

You've been paying for your roads via the Gas/Fuel Taxes your State and Federal Booberments tack on to each and every gallon you pump into your ride.

The trick?

Finding a way to get rid of the poliwonks that take THOSE funds and dump them into the General Fund, or worse, re-write the legislation to directly transfer the Road taxes into some pet/personal project. When that happens, you should be able to sue to stop the transfers.

But...we're all sheeple...some more than others.
