Well I do not spend time in Jacksonville I can tell you however there is much to do in the state of Florida. Especially if you are a outdoors person. How long will you be staying for? Will you have a rental car? That Amelia Island Councours d'Elegance looks fantastic!

^^ No baseball within ~150 miles.

I'd like to know too- I am fairly close , but always thought of Jax as a pretty , um, empty place...I would like to be corrected....
I think there are some decent junkyards, but you probably didn't pack crappy clothes and tools...

I'll be there until noon Monday. Will get a rental and drive to the auctions from the J'ville hotel.

Our condo in Naples is being used all winter by family friends, so can't use that as a Florida base -- too far as well. Never caught a Grapefruit league Twins game, so I'd have to pass on baseball in J'ville as well. Not my thing.

Usually pretty peaceful, they haven't had a really good riot for a couple of decades, but hey, there is always a chance...

It is a very interesting event if you like motorcycles. It usually competes with Sturgis to be the largest bike rally in the US every year.

There is also a lot of NASCAR stuff going on there, the NASCAR museum is located at the race track and there are lots of official NASCAR memorabilia shops and such. Also, the town has one rockin' night life if you're into bar hopping.

If you continue down I-95 south from there, you are about an hour from Cape Canaveral. If you take I-4 from there, you are about 45 minutes from Orlando.

If you are going to buy and need a good PPI Soperton is not too far away. I may ride the Harley down if I can figure out what to do with the dogs.

That is a bummer. Naples is beautiful! One of the most beautiful cities I think. Spent some time there but I am a little north of you up in Sarasota/Venice area. We love it there.
