The series follows Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb), former high-school "Queen *****," a recently widowed mother of two, who returns to her hometown of Highland Park, Texas, an enclave of Dallas. Formerly rich, Amanda lost everything when her husband was exposed as stealing billions of dollars from investors and died in a car crash with his mistress. She meets the former schoolmates she used to mock: Carlene Cockburn (Kristin Chenoweth), a Good Christian Dallas and GCB "Queen"; Sharon Peacham (Jennifer Aspen), who was beautiful in high school and is now heavy and insecure and does the bulk of Carlene's bidding; glamorous gossip queen Cricket Caruth-Reilly (Miriam Shor), whose husband, Blake (Mark Deklin), is gay; and Heather Cruz (Marisol Nichols), a powerful Dallas real-estate agent.[5]

Amanda and her teenage children move in with her 50-something mother Gigi Stopper (Annie Potts), who tries to influence Amanda's parenting and style choices, and gives her advice about strategic maneuvering among these women. While Amanda has grown considerably since high school and wants to move on with her life, Carlene and the others still resent Amanda. They don't believe she's changed and are out to drive her away.
Why? Have we completely run out of ideas? I am betting it does not get renewed much less finish it's run.

I agree with Dmashkataterman and MTI. The show is an accurate portrayal of most people that claim to be Christians.

I'd rather off myself with a .45 than be forced to watch that drivel.

People wonder why I no longer watch TV?

Talking

I don't even OWN a TV much less WATCH one.

I hate them.

Bunch of clowns holding a roll of toilet paper or a can of motor oil up to their faces and YELLING at me to buy it.

I had NO idea who Charlies Angels are or what they do even though everyone in the office used to blab about it on the lunch hour, years ago in the lunch room.

I think it was Woody Hall's movie where he is a successful writer in NY and gets a job in Hollywood and becomes a successful screenwriter.

So he invites his old friend out to LA to have lunch with him in Beverly Hills.

Looking out of Woody's new Cadillac El Dorado convertible, the friend from NY says:

"Oh wow, LA is soooo clean!! I can't believe it.

In New York City the garbage is piled 12 stories HIGH"

But here I don't see ANY!! LA is so clean - what do you guys do with all your garbage?"

Woody gives him an deadpan look and says nonchalantly:

"Oh, we put it all on TV".

HAW !!!!! @ THAT line.

Network broadcast tv has to deal with tremendous fragmentation in the marketplace due to cable, sat, and the web. Way back when, a show like "The Wild Wild West" used to get 42 million viewers a week, since there were only 3 networks and no video recording. Most network shows are happy just to get 5-10 million a week.

To get that, network shows have to either be "cheap" aka reality TV and game shows with low prodcution costs; or they have to appeal to the lowest common denominators of tried and true sitcom scripts (doesn't Tim Allen's "Last Man Standing" look like "Home Improvement" moved to Denver?) and serial multi-character dramas with spin offs.

Good TV is out there, mixed in with the shows about hoarders, barehanded catfishing, cooking with 3# of butter and lard, idiots running a crappy bar in Philadelphia and the zillion ways you can die.
