Anole

While at my son's house the Lovely Mrs. said "lets catch a lizard and take it back for the number four granddaughter". So I caught this little fellow and we put him in a large juice container with holes and brought him back with us. When we got here she decided to look up what was needed to keep him healthy and found out it was pretty complicated. Live food only, correct temp, drinks by licking water off leaves....we looked at each other and said "he's gonna die".

So we decided to keep him ourselves.

She goes to the pet store and comes back with aquarium, light, heat pad cover and live crickets in a box. 'bout a hundred bucks......

So now we both are captivated by watching this little fellow staulk and eat crickets. He hides in the leaves, changes colors and after eating a couple of them stretches out in the heat lamp to digest.

We are enjoying him tremendously.

The number four granddaughter will have to get her own lizard.

My little sister insists those things hang out by the trashcan just to scare her. I used to catch those as a kid and get em to bite my finger and hang on by their mouths. pretty fun.

Well I suppose to anybody from the south it is about like having a cockroach for a pet but they are a novelty to us!

World News Report April 17th 2013**** Ecological disaster strikes Indiana town********

A recent series of events has devastated a small Indiana town. It appears crickets no longer emit their cheerful chirping in this county. In fact, no has even seen a cricket in over a year. The events seem tied to a local pet store who inadvertently sold a shipment of Japanese crickets which were captured at the site of the failed nuclear reactor (see related story regarding Tsunami) and sold to a local resident. Efforts to locate the resident have been fruitless. One individual interviewed, a Tom W. who was interviewed while repairing a large hole knocked through the side of his house said, "I don't know nothing" while looking around nervously at the underbrush surrounding his property.

I love those little guys, they are all over on my screened patio. I remember when I was kid in Ohio I bought these for a dollar out of the back of a comic book as "chameleons". They would show up in the mail in a cloth pouch inside a cardbord box, along with meal worms. Turned out what I didnt know is meal worms are cockroach larva, which had to be kept in the refrigerator, when mom found that out the lizard was no more.

That's 144 lizards a meal, do you at least put some hot sauce on it for them?

Now that you guys mention that, my dad told me when he was in high school, he was in a play that required a monkey. Where did he get it? Mail order of course! He told me it was a pretty bad decision, as a monkey makes a terrible pet. (and actor)
