That's a great deal for someone. My Volvo had 300,000 + on it and I saw it 5 years later driving past my shop.

I'd get a 740 turbo/manual or a 240 over this -- the RWD cars tend to last longer.

No- I don't think so. That was a coupe from the earlier series.

Two coupes. 262c and 780. Only buy something with a turbo-4, avoid the French V-6 like the Antichrist. Then again, most French V-6's won't have survived till today, so this may be a moot issue.

you mean the Peugot-Volvo-Renault aka PRV engine that also powers the Delorean, Bertone, Eagle Premier, and the Renault Alpine GT

I agree. My wife and I owned one (black 740 sedan) for many years. It was a perfect car for living in San Francisco and commuting from there also, also, eventually the politically correct biodegradeble plastic trims in the interior began to degrade.

I saw a LOT of red 740 station wagons in rural Sweden when she and I was there, (the month before 9/11.) they seemed to be the staff car, and a Labrador retreiver in the back of them was the Swedish "Staff dog".
240 and 740 wagons came in two flavors: Manual, and Dogmatic.

The one elchivito is looking at is a run of the mill 850 front wheel drive sedan.

It's a decent car, but NOWHERE near the legendary 240 and 740 ones. (seen here, the trio of 740's are dancing.)

Ourmember "Jorn" has a beautiful 780 - the Limited edition Bertone-styled coupe - I met him in West Los Angeles a couple of years ago, and saw it - it's very beautiful!

FWD, never mind......

240s seem to be getting pretty hard to find. A friend of mine back in the early 80's bought a 4dr. for himself and a wagon for his wife. He claimed "nobody's ever been killed in a 240", which I didn't actually believe, but he did eventually get T boned hard in his and walked away. Went out and bought another one. I'd grab an old wagon if one came along. Start smoking a pipe. Get me some patches on my jacket elbows and ditch the stetson for an old fedora. Very academic. yeah that's the ticket....

You need to buy a golden retriever or a chocolate lab, too, to complete the image (which you nailed perfectly, btw)

Your wifey will need to get Birkenstock sandals and a net handbag too.

Put a "NO NUKES" sticker on the back tailgate and you are all set.

A 240 wagon is a "lifestye" --- you DO get that, DON'T you?
