More election year drivel. Gotta stir up the base and get them to the polls.

This type of crap coming from both sides - and people wonder why I've written off both major parties as far as offering anything worthwhile.

It perhaps would have been enough to just tell the RWNJs and others that want to vote Republican,

You can keep on delivering corporate welfare to the special interests who have bribed them, if you vote Republican.

I think that people that don't vote, even for reasons like that stated above, ought to forfeit their right to complain about the state of things, and should instead go and watch "Dancing With the Stars" on commercial television, or do what it takes to enjoy whatever measure of happiness they can get in their lives.

Oh, I'll end up voting all right - it just won't be for BO or Willard.

When enough people finally realize that voting for a third alternative isn't "wasting" your vote - but making your voice heard in expressing your displeasure with the two main choices - then, perhaps, there's a chance for shaking things up a bit.

The important thing is to categorize the opposition and then blame the opposition for whatever occurs.

It doesn't matter which side the "opposition" really is.

Though as a practical matter, in the end, more often than not, often politics tends to play out that way, at ANY political level, starting out with elections like voting for the local Dog Catcher, and is driven by lies, distortions and whatever else is thought to work to achieve electoral victory by any means whatsoever, and that includes outright bribery (sweetly called "campaign contrbutions") and character assassination and other chicanery, I think this is a bit ingenuous to say that, and while it may be tongue in cheek and slightly glib, to a great extent it is correct.

I believe some famous sports coach summed things up thusly: "Winning isn't EVERYTHING, but losing isn't ANYTHING."

It is galling to hear leftist radicals espousing that despite their statements and attempts to legislate against their rights, they do not hate or feel prejudiced against right wing nut jobs . . . adding "heck, I have lots of friends and co-workers that are RWNJ's . . . I don't hate 'em."

Hell, I'm prepared to like anybody unless they give me cause to ignore them. Hatred is simply a waste of energy by children who don't know how to manage their feelings, just like material success is like a group of balloons floating amongst the heads of children armed with pins.

The more I think about the OP, the more insulting it is. Intentionally so, I believe.

Have we degenerated to the point where a difference of opinion is now "hate"? A posting like the OP is not intended to further debate and discussion of issues, but to silence all criticism by calling it hate. That tactic is disgusting.

Of course the piece is insulting. It is meant to be. It is a response to the naked hatred and intolerance which is so often displayed by the right. Yes, 'hatred', no other word fits as well. Think Rush Limbaugh, would you not describe his rhetoric as hate filled? Or is he espousing debate and discussion of issues?

If the piece does not speak to you directly, because you do not carry the stigma of hatred in your beliefs, then good for you. You are not alone. However, there are people who fit the OP description to a T.

The fact that you came eventually to the feeling of disgust is somewhat reassuring.

It is unfocused. It generalizes a large number of people and argues they are all think alike.

If we were to use that kind of rhetorical argument (generalization then dismissal) against a racial or ethnic group would it still have been okay? If not, then why is it okay to use it against ANY group?
