Mercedes crash pic

Amazingly the passenger(s) in the Mercedes with the top sheared neatly off survived.

Holy crap, what happened there? Did the top come off in the crash or was it removed by emergency personnel?

My guess is JOL. No damage at all to the hood of the Mercedes which seems unlikely if it were hit from the front. I presume that is the front windshield sticking up above the car. If it were pushed up in that positoin by the accident I'd expect the glass to be completely shattered but I see only some crazing around the side edge. So assuming the car was hit from the rear and that's the front windshield then it would have to be JOL.

That makes sense. I was wondering how they could have survived if it was sheared off in the crash.

Smoke from brush fire. First semi stopped, two cars stopped, taco truck stopped semi 2 blunders into the back of taco truck apparently hitting a glancing blow.

Holy Crap!

why is the middle truck a "taco" truck?

It has a ladder on top of it, looks like a utility van, or work van of some type.

Years and years and years ago when I went on holiday to Arizona I saw a few crashes like that - in the middle of nowhere and on long straight stretches. Most were single vehicle crashes. I always wondered if it was people falling asleep.

Could be a generic slang term for the type of work truck.

Or possibly misidentification by whoever originally posted the pic.

Or a derogatory term, given the number of people of supposedly dubious legal status often seen driving them and engaging in construction work.

It looks a little like a food truck like they run up to factories and such at break times.

My dad who used to sell a lot of auto insurance said that a very high percentage of one vehicle crashes are suicides or attempts.

We use to call those type of trucks, "Roach Coaches".

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Drive for long stretches, especially in the south west and falling asleep is a distinct posibility.
