Axis of Taxes

Google: axis of taxes and end of prosperity

click on the very first choice

Lots of prophecy in that old article. Problem is, the taxes haven't come, but they've been spending money as if they already had it in hand.

Hey Larry,
We have had it going on for decades.
When we have the left win an election, they start spending like a drunk sailor.
After a while people start seeing what they are doing & vote them out. Then the right side spend the next couple of terms trying to fix the mess. & then the cycle starts all over again.

Its important to be careful when looking at Australian politics as the right side is named the Liberal Party & the left are Labor. It fools any one from your side of the pond if not for warned.
& yes Australia currently has a "Hillery C." clone as a leader. Only difference is ours is a barren red headed clown.

We can only DREAM of having politicians in this country that spend like drunken sailors! The reason is that the sailors of the era that drew the comment had no credit cards. They ran out of cash, and maybe conned a buddy out of another five and that was it.

We can only DREAM of having politicians that would spend until there was no more money and then quit spending instead of going $15T in debt with someone elses money.

This is the long term problem. Politicians of most developed countries are loading every family within their borders with debt responsabilities and obligations beyond their level to absorb or pay.

The government will come for personal assets eventually I imagine in one way or another. There is an old saying that governments will do anything rather than surrender power unfortunatly.

Although people rant against socialisim this is a sure fire way to eventually have it. I am not for it myself but it is not a really optional course under certain circumstances. Slogans like we are all in it together usually procceed the event. I always was amused by the expression re arranging chairs on the titantic as representative of our system in the last twenty years or so. As was stated it truly might be better if a country was run by a crew of drunken sailors. At least the future would not be sold out.

The real question that cannot be avoided is how long can this current state of affairs go on until it just cannot function anymore? Fifty one percent of americans polled reciently stated they expect an american financial collapse in the next twenty five year time frame.

That time frame may be a little optimistic in my opinion. Like an airplane with little choice after the point of no return is passed. The serious danger is that point may have passed or will not be recognizable when it does occur. Perhaps Larry is right. (cough, cough, choke, choke, my vision is getting blurry as well. I think I feel the onset of a stroke)

In that we might concievably be better off if the government was a group of drunken sailors. They might not totally eventually sell out the whole population.

Great post Barry!

I am 63 and my family has a history of living to be about 90. I THINK that if I live to be 90 I will have seen the collapse that you mention.

Thanks for posting!

LOL

Ya'll know I can tell when a full moon is coming up by reading through open discussion on PeachParts. Another way to tell is by the activity on the lake in regards to fish hitting.

It's all good.

Funny you should mention fishing. I just came back from Maine where I went to relax and fish. Can't say as I had much luck but I got a 30lb sea bass in a novel way.

Seems none of the fish were bitin' on my anglepoles so I was about to give up when a fish hawk or osprey dove down and grabbed the biggest bass I ever seen. The fish was so heavy the hawk was flying low to the ground. Just as he was over my head I clapped my hands and yelled all I could and wouldn't you know the hawk was so startled he dropped the bass which landed clean in my bucket!
