If you have a 1940's brain, then put a 1940's helmet on.
Over here there are safety standards for m/c helmets. The aim is to minimize brain injury.
As Bell used to use as a sales slogan years ago "If you have a $10 head, then put a $10 helmet on your head........".
You dont see moto gp riders with German army helmets on.

As far as I know, the "German" style helmet is designed that way for practical reasons, not because it has anything to do with being a Nazi.

A few years ago the US moved to that same style helmet for our troops.

Oh and the German pattern helmet of that period started in WW1 or the 20's I forget.
It's actually biker CLUBS. They don't call themselves gangs, only leos do that, mostly to get fed money....

There are actually several DOT spec helmets available these days styled like the old nazi helmet. But in the old days, you could see club members wearing them and other captured regalia from the war days. Never meant they were nazis, rather, meant that they had kicked their asses and brought home trophies, or their dads had....

Im not irritated by the ones with spikes in the top stylewise, WW1 in nature. If it was a full on Nazi helmet with a swastika on it, that would be another story.

However, I agree with layback, those stupid little helmets are just dumb, war inspired or not. I especially hate the brain bucket style. Either wear nothing, or something that will actually protect your head, not just satisfy the letter of the law.

When I had my bikes, it was always a bright white full face helmet, to hell with fashion or appealing to some knuckleheads sense of cool.

If you are going to get offended, as I mentioned, the swastika is a great one. It used to stand for something else before it was hijacked much like the nazi salute, IIRC.

Hey now. If you want to root for a team that got it's ass handed to it, it does show team loyalty but not a good choice. Still, it is your choice and I couldn't care less if you wore the entire nazi outfit. Don't know why anyone would take offense at it.

Helmets pretty much only make it to where your face looks good at your funeral...

The wearing of German Military regalia was for the shock value, to express to the public that they were the non-conformist and generally wanted to tick off the upstanding citizen.

not the brain buckets.

WARNING. The below link is to a photo of a fairly mild motorcycle face injury, but still pretty nasty.

Face Injury Result of Motorcycle Accident

I was trying to find that famous one, that used to be on rotten. com, but the link was dead. The one where the guy is alive and sitting up, and from his eyes down to his neck is red ribbons of road rash. One of the most horrible things Ive seen.

Isn't there a historical connection between all of the German marques, not just Mercedes, and the Nazi's? I'm not sure wearing one of those helmets is any more or less pro-Nazi than driving a Benz. But maybe that's just me?
