Over here there are safety standards for m/c helmets. The aim is to minimize brain injury.
As Bell used to use as a sales slogan years ago "If you have a $10 head, then put a $10 helmet on your head........".
You dont see moto gp riders with German army helmets on.
x2. I just think they are not too bright.

Yup. I can remember Bikers being proud to show them off. And during the 50's and 60's no one had any problem with it.

There is also the fact that some states passed laws requiring helmets. That's all, just helmets. So these also met the letter of the law.

I would bet that the average wearer of these helmets has little understand or idea of what they may represent to others.

My biggest concern is their relative lack of protection. While they may be better than nothing (and that may be debatable for many types of accidents, if you're going to wear a helmet, why not wear one that maximizes your chances of survival in all types of accidents.

OTOH, I was shocked to see this article today, which indicates that motorcycle fatalities are up and the shocking part is that it's in part due to states repealing compulsory motorcycle helmet laws. Helmet law repeals raising motorcycle deaths - Bottom Line

And since we're talking Germany, don't get me wrong, I'm no helmet nazi, but those who "choose" not to wear helmets often cause a serious drain on society when they don't die instantly from their injuries. Often care for them runs well past their insurance limits (when they have insurance) and that increases costs for everyone else.

Monkey see, monkey do. My theory on those baggy pants, if we can call the that seeing as how the waistband just about comes below the crotch, is that it was worn by people who didn't have the money to buy fitting clothes. Then it became a fashion, just like slumming.

And not look manly and risk taking? They would die first. On the tombstone it will say "Crashed and burned but in a manly way".

And that is bad how? I have no problem with the idiots being weeded out especially when it involves death and they don't rack up any more medical bills they cannot pay.

I agree, trouble is, they don't all die. Taking care of a permanent vegetable or a paraplegic with spinal cord injuries becomes everybody's medical bill in increased costs.

I wholeheartedly agree. However, the rising fatalities is at least the silver lining in the cloud. It could be worse, at least they are not surviving like you say. Can't expect everyone of those idiots to be "Darwined" out. Would be nice though.
