Couldn't agree more. A Romney-Rice ticket equals four more years of Obama. It would appear the Republicans are still slow learners- they haven't learned anything from four years ago.

He may as well choose President Dick "deficits don't matter" Cheney as a running mate. The fact that he's fund raising for Mitt doesn't help his cause either.

Probably her most comical performance in that role was when she praised the leaders of the coup who briefly overthrew Hugo Chavez in 2002. When the coup quickly fell apart, she had to acknowledge that she had supported the military overthrow of a democratically-elected leader. World events repeatedly caught her by surprise throughout W's two terms. She would be a disastrous candidate, IMHO. Her combination of cluelessness and arrogance wouldn't hold up over the long campaign. IMHO She seemed a bit flustered when testifying before the 9/11 Commission. And then there's the time she referred to W as her husband. That was awkward.
You have an excellent memory. I do remember when she called W her husband. I wondered it it was a sort of freudian slip at the time?

I remember thinking quite a bit of McCain until he started running for pres. When one runs for president every thing about you becomes known. Mac turned out to be a little careless with his words and not so much of a maverick as he had been portrayed as.

The microscope is now focusing on Romney. There will be more and more things brought out (I have no clue what). A man with his business experiences will surely have trod on some toes along the way.

Agree with the first part. I think that connection would alienate a portion of the vacillating crowd of independents, wouldn't unite the repos rightwing to the rest of the party, and would energize Obama's most fanatical supporters.

I disagree on the 2nd part. People who wouldn't vote for Romney because of Cheney's involvement probably wouldn't vote for Romney anyway.

Rice has said she would never consider the job.

She is currently knocking $150,000 per speaking engagement. Why would she give up that kind of coin?

She also is not considered anti-abortion enough by the hard right, so even some of those folks would come out against her.

Plus Romney has been taught his entire life, and as a Mormon Bishop taught others, that women are vastly inferior to men. If Romney is worried about his religion becoming a topic of the election then all he needs to do is put a woman on the ticket with him and religious nuts would be coming out of the woodwork.

Just hypothetical: wondering with all the Bain Capital stuff if Mitt himself would have made the veep cut if he was asked to run next to another presidential candidate.

As was pointed out in another thread, if all the other republican candidates couldn't find any dirt on him during the primaries, he must be clean.

Give 'em a break MS. Bain capital is the only straw they have to grasp. That said, it is worth grasping since it provides just one more diversion in an effort deflect attention away from B.O.'s failed economic policies.

Bain is more like a huge redwood.

Romney is banking on his business success to win favor with R's. Doing things illegal or unethical will cost him moderate and independent votes.

It is the responsibility of D's to disect it.

Bain is really the only straw Romney has to grasp. He is running hard on his Bain experience and says that because of the time he spent there he will make a better President.

But that is only Romney's opinion. The real question is: Will his time spent there make him a better President? Unless everyone knows what he did when he was there how will anyone know?

Currently Romney is just asking us to trust him on this.

Would Republicans be willing to trust Obama like that?

When you come up with evidence of Romney doing something illegal I will be all ears. So far there is no such evidence except in the hopes and dreams of B.O.'s campaign staff.
