With Samsung being a rather large supplier of processors for the whole line of Apple products, I'm sure we'll see a major price hike in the near future for Apple's devises.

For Samsung, it was a series of damning internal documents, many of which showed that the company looked to Apple's devices for cues when designing its software icons and general features. One such internal report contained numerous side-by-side slides where the company put a pre-release version of its initial Galaxy smartphone next to the iPhone, and offered suggestions on how to make it more similar.
Question. Why do so many companies make the mistake of having something in writing and not put it oral? Don't they realize from past experience that you can subpoena these things be they on paper or electronic format?

Yep, think they would figure it out eventually...

Responsibility for the Holocaust - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hitler
Most historians take the view that Hitler was the opposite of a pragmatist: his overriding obsession was hatred of the Jews, and he showed on a number of occasions that he was willing to risk losing the war to achieve their destruction.
There is no "smoking gun" in the form of a document which shows Hitler ordering the Final Solution. Hitler did not have a bureaucratic mind and many of his most important instructions were given orally.[16]
There is ample documentary evidence that Hitler authorized the mass deportations of the Jews to the east beginning in October 1941. He cannot have imagined that these hundreds of thousands of Jews would be housed, clothed and fed by the authorities of the Government-General, and in fact Hans Frank frequently complained that he could not cope with the influx. Even Holocaust denier David Irving concedes that after Heinrich Himmler's speech at Posen in October 1943, Hitler must have known what was happening.
Historian Paul Johnson writes that some writers, such as Irving, have claimed that because there were no written orders, "the Final Solution was Himmler's work and [...] Hitler not only did not order it but did not even know it was happening." Johnson states, however, that "this argument will not stand up. The administration of the Third Reich was often chaotic but its central principle was clear enough: all key decisions emanated from Hitler."[16] Excerpts from the diary of Joseph Goebbels and Rudolf Höss also indicate that Hitler gave oral instructions for the extermination of the Jews.
Hell, even back then, Hitler figured it out so how complicated is that?

Or they could do their own homework.

Yeah and everyone could behave and we all hold hands and sing "Kumbaya". Like that will happen. You and I would be having gay sex before that can happen.

That is why I am trying to ask. If you are going to do naughty things, why put it in black and white or electronic format? Why not give it orally and in secret so you could deny it or at least say "Well, you misquoted me."?

Your questions merely assumes that the truly "bad" stuff is also written down or memorialized.

I doubt it. Samsung makes the A5 processor under contract for Apple in Austin, Tejas. The processor is Apple's design, not Samsung's. The A5 is used in iPads and iPhones, but not in computers or iPods. There is no reason that Apple couldn't renegotiate production of the A5 with someone else if they thought it necessary. Austin is full of high tech plants that'd jump at the chance to grab that chip contract from Samsung.
Samsung sunk nearly 4 billion into building that plant so they could produce the chips for Apple. A price gouge for payback seems pretty short-sighted. They'll just string it out in court for years and finally settle for a few hundred million in fines.

It is revenue neutral for Apple customers. Apple gets a billion dollar credit. Samsung raises an extra billion to cover the settlement. Of course, the lawyers get a small piece of that too. But, in reality it isn't going to be so simple. This settlement will disrupt all competitors in the area. Apple will get to keep their premium pricing, while reducing competition.
