Always sorta assumed the platypus was the end-of-the-day, semi-wasted, totally exhausted "what the heck do I have left in the parts bin?" creation.

Seems like the very worst of a straw man argument....pick the most extreme version of what you do not believe, and then ridicule it.

Big difference between getting one's world view from comics and being entertained by comics that either support or spoof one's personal world view. You know - that whole "sense of humor" thing.
