Doonesbury is hardly a "comic". It is a political cartoon on the comic pages. It is often funny. I read it every day, but I often disagree with its POV.

As opposed to getting one's world view from other forms of "entertainment."

Like talking heads who are better suited to be "entertainers" than journalists. Most of the name brand guys/gals are too absurd to even wear the title "thoughtful commentator."

Anybody else miss Walter Cronkite? Dan Rather? Mike Wallace? Early days of CNN when they actually reported news? I wish I was able to toss Edward R. Murrow in there as one I miss, but he was before my time.
