And somehow the ignorance of which you take full advantage for profit on the misery of others is not apparent to you with regard to other sectors of the economy, in which you see a need of complete government intervention to protect people from their own choices.

If you don't see the difference between people going from owners to renters vs people dying in things like Katrina, or crops failing due to droughts, etc and so forth, then you're really stupider than I ever imagined.

And yes, I do think that mortgage controls should have been much stricter -- if we had kept the policies of the 80s and 90s, the bubble would never have happened and prices would be similar to what they are now. Meaning that there still would be opportunities in the r.e. market.

Region building doesnt seem far fetched as what in the past is followed by the same set program of destroy and rebuild ,a wrong turn for all involved.Taking out targets with missle offence before heavy tank and foot soldiers is not going to go without high casualties ,a real waste of life .Isreal is in for a long fight , more than ever before, and will be a history that they must determine.I wouldnt wish my kids to live in this termoil ,but its their reality and both sides will regret the devastation unless some one stands down .
One side wants land given back to them ,another has no interest in giving, just taking .America was involved back when Isreal was devised and will always be involved ,a preset outpost for the region may have been the reason , a debated subject for all involved ,Quicksand with out a bottom .

Israel has managed to take good care of itself many times -- I think it will survive this time round as well.

US warns Isreal

Does anyone else find it ironic that the US of all countries is worried about another countries ground soldiers after what the US has done in Iraq and Afganistan? Obviously we were not too worried about our own soldiers when we started all the chit in those countries.

Worried? I'd say that Obama is saying "your problem, kids. We're not bailing your sorry behinds out if you make a mess."

It's a matter of scale. We lost more soldiers at Normandy than we have lost in Afghanistan.

Please share your wisdom with the family of a fallen soldier. I am certain they will appreciate your putting things into perspective for them.

Stricly from a loss of life, you're correct. However, you're over simplifying the nature of Afganistan (and Iraq). This is a protracted war with no end in sight, unlike Normandy. We don't get to storm the some beach or secure the hilltop - rather, we have no idea what the outcome will be. In essence, the loss of any U.S. life now is costlier, as we will likely see no return.

In fact, one might argue after all is said and done, the U.S. (and western world) will be less safe once we pull out of this region, as we have destroyed all their infrastructure and created a haven for radical militant groups.

Just a guess but I think within 72 hours Israeli ground troops will storm across the border and invade Gaza

Sadly. More corpses on both sides due to their leaders being intransigent c--ts.
