Since the era of non repression is relatively new, there is not a lot of data on possible long term detrimental or beneficial effects.

One thing I've learned in almost 40 years in foundation engineering--you can claim credit for a lot of successes---if you do it quickly. Nature has a way of eventually settling scores.
